When the Trolls Align

July 20, 2017 by Kelsi

Our amazing volunteers created this great display of trolls for the chimps! Some could find this terrifying, but others (like Foxie) find it completely delightful! When Foxie saw this display of dolls, she was beyond excited! Which would she choose first? Foxie was so thrilled that throughout the day I have found her playing alone with her trolls or getting the staff caregivers into a big game of troll toss and chase!

A beautiful line of trolls:

Foxie holding on to the pink doll in one hand and the orange with her foot:

Foxie spotted again with her troll:

The aftermath of deciding which troll to play with first:

I was wondering how long it was going to take for the trolls to unite! Her eyes appear to be filled with a mixture of joy and a little brain storming about what will happen next. Love her.

Troll System Overload! What fun for Foxie. I always love to see the flash of brightly colored Troll hair flashing about your photos. Such a surprising splash of color against the beautiful blackness of the chimps hair, and yet at the same time such an expected sight!

That last photo looks like Foxie is thinking about giving someone a shower. Trolls Beware!

Foxie should get the “Mother of the Century” award. Troll dolls were the only enrichment of interest to her after she arrived, traumatized and stressed, at the sanctuary and her love of them continues. It had to have been horrible for her to have her real babies taken from her given her intense maternal instincts and her personality in general. She ended up in the perfect sanctuary. What an amazingly resilient chimp.

Great post! I love the trolls. You have to get cameras strapped to your heads. It would have been a great post gone awesome if you Foxie’s reaction. Next time! Thank you for your great love and imagination. You are giving them all such a rich well-deserved life.
