A couple of moments with a couple of chimps

October 5, 2016 by Katelyn

Missy enjoyed a moment of solitude and sunset on the Twister:

While Foxie said an upside down goodnight, tucked up high on a bench in one of the front rooms:

And thank you hoots heard ’round the world to all who made possible and all who were able to participate in Great Apes Giving Day yesterday! You made a huge difference in the lives of these seven chimpanzees! We are so thrilled to see so much support given not only to our chimp family, but to so many other great apes in need all over the world.

The chimps in Florida at Save the Chimps are getting prepared for a hurricane! Can you imagine rounding up that 250 chimps to go inside for safety? They had to bring in extra food and of course, many more blankets for big, soft nests in case they are sequestered by water. Let’s hope they only have a little wind and rain.

So glad our “seven” are not dealing with storms or the awful fires. So glad they are enjoying a nice fall day running around in the grass or climbing their lookouts feeling free, safe and happy.

Missy looks so relaxed and peaceful enjoying her sunset views. She is a luck girl. (Hope all the chimps in Florida stay safe and comfortable throughout Matthew’s bluster.)
