Jamie the Warrior

October 4, 2015 by Elizabeth

It’s turning into the Weekend of Jamie on the blog, but we all just continue to be so amazed by how she handled (and even participated in!) her medical procedure on Friday. She’s back with the group now, resuming her Young’s Hill walking schedule, and doing great. Her strength and resilience will always be an inspiration.

If that 3rd pic from the top doesn’t say “Hello, I’m The Boss.” I don’t know what would. Glad to see you getting back to your regular rounds, Jamie! <3

These photos are oh so Greta Garbo! Jamie looks amazing, just beautiful. I am so glad she is back with her family and feeling better each day. Best of all, she’s back to patrolling Young’s Hill!! I do love Jamie.

Oh, good gravy, in nearly every one of those photos, can’t you just see her sitting on a stone outside some temple; dressed in full Greek toga garb; gold ivy leaves around her head; legs crossed in a sexy way, facing the Sun; knowing the other male chimps are too shy and in awe of her to approach and she’s LOVING that; gold D.R.I.P.P.I.N.G. from each finger and her neck; and she quietly shoots you one final look of srs “shade”, as if to say, “Snap the d**ned picture already–I have autographs to sign and payday to spend!”

This is my second scenario written-on-the-fly this week innit?

My first was with Burrito being dragged along behind J.B.’s leg, innit?

Methinks I may need to stop reading these blogs whilst I am grading freshmen Astronomy labs–the combination of the two result in a little “too” much time alone in my head. And dat can be a skeerah thang….LOL.

Would the chimps wear costumes if someone made them? I mean, could you get them to sit for long for a fun and goofy photo shoot?? Oh, that would be AWEsome!

Carla, Your affection for the chimps is obvious and they have long deserved the most love there is to be had. But do you think costumes is really right? Have we not worked to free chimpanzees from situations like circuses and entertainment, which is where they are made to wear costumes for our pleasure — not theirs. True freedom means freedom not only from confinement and chains but from anthropomorphism. Chimpanzees are indeed human-like — or should I say we are chimpanzee-like — and they are persons in the true definition of the word — a sense of self and of others and the ability to feel, think and make decisions. But they are not dressed up character actors unless of their own choosing in a safe and free environment (as much as is possible) . Indeed, they do put on hats and wear scarves and other such things. But it’s of their own choosing. It’s okay to picture them as you desire but it’s not okay to fulfill that fantasy by dressing them up. My opinion, with all due respect.

Let’s celebrate them as they are for what they and who they are — as free as can be, well loved and cared for, and free to play, think, laze around, whatever they choose. That’s fantasy enough for me.

Jamie has amazing camera compatibility. She knows how to move her head & body for the best pose.
    Glad she’s feeling better.
