When the wind blows

April 11, 2014 by J.B.

The chimps at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest have over 85,000 square feet of living space. Most of it is outdoors, on a hillside overlooking Cle Elum and the Yakima River.

But the chimps don’t want to be outside all the time – like today, for example. It’s warm outside and the sun is shining, but the wind will almost knock you off your feet. So they have choices. Sometimes they hang out in the playroom.

Other times they seek out some privacy in one of the four smaller “front rooms.”

But the best spot on a day like today seems to be the greenhouse – all the sun and warmth but without the wind.

Of course, nothing short of a hurricane could stop Jamie from her walks around the hill.

Everything about the CE-7 is interesting>
Their life in sanctuary is really good .. they know, they are safe, and that nobody is going to hurt them They are so well fed, well cared for, and VERY well treated.. this is the BEST their semi captive lives will ever be.
All is good in the CSNW neighborhood>
.thank you.. to all who give them the best, life has to offer them.

How many walks does jamie take with and with OUT caregivers on any given day? Does she have a certain time that she prefers her ‘boot walk’?

Jamie takes the majority of her walks with her caregivers. She does this anywhere from one to six times a day. Once and a while, she will go with either Missy or Burrito if they feel the need to defend their territory against elk, deer, or strange noises coming from the neighbor’s property, but it’s not part of her daily routine like the walks with her caregivers are. She doesn’t really have a particular time that she wants to go. Sometimes, she’ll go as often as her caregivers are able to – but we have other work to do!
