Jody: A Dichotomy

July 5, 2013 by Elizabeth

When I’m describing Jody’s personality to new chimp house volunteers, I often say that she’s a totally endearing combination of vulnerable and intimidating. If she thinks you have wronged her in some way, she will not hesitate to tell you so with a mouthful of water in your face. If she’s feeling feisty or on edge, she might try to poke you with her long fingernails. At the same time, if there’s tension in the group and she’s feeling unsure, she often seeks reassurance from her caregivers. And first thing every morning she approaches us and greets us warmly with several seconds of intense, prolonged eye contact. No matter her mood, she has a face I never tire of looking at.

Thaks Elizabeth,, its about the face,, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the JODY.. Jody is the very first Chimpanzee of CSNW whom I was drawn to, adn ever so instantly. She was eating a huge face of a gorgous fresh sunflower,, Sunflowers being my late fathers FAVE flower to plant and tend to,, so, I just had to indulge myself with all there is to know about Jody and help in any way I could. Thus my online and blog friendship with CSNW chimps and staff began. JODY is my #1 gal.. considering all she has been through,, she deserves the BEST life ever, CSNW staff GENUINELY and tirelessly DO ” g i v e ” The Jody lady,, all she wants,, ever chimp is treated with the utmost respect and reverence and they all treated as individuals and recognized individually and collectively,, the CE 7 are all my FAVES.. Jody just is such a lovely presence,,on video and print,, I can only imagine what a joy and what a privledge it would be to meet her in person .. but, I must admit.. the staff bloggers do such an AMAZING job of recounting the many anecdotes of my Jody, Negra,Annie,Burrito,Foxie,Missy, and Jamie,, that I feel like I do know them,, perhpas.. one day,, if, and when, supporters will be able to visit I WILL definately do so..
