Christmas in July!

July 18, 2013 by Diana

Help Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest by donating items from our Christmas in July wish list

The past few months have been full of parties, as we celebrated Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest’s five-year anniversary, Negra’s 40th birthday, Independence Day and the announcements by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Institutes of Health. Plus the Roslyn Olympics celebrating Foxie and her love of troll dolls is just two days away (check out the new Facebook page)! With so many festive parties, it almost feels like the holiday season, so we’ve decided to celebrate Christmas in July!

The CSNW team sure knows how to stretch a dollar. We want to give the chimpanzees the best, and sometimes that means living with less than ideal things for ourselves. However, we are at a point where we need some items replaced so that we can operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. Take a look at our Christmas in July wish list that the whole staff put together, and consider making our day by selecting a present to donate. With your gifts we will be able to…

Organize the kitchen in the chimp house and office in the caregiver house:

dishes and sink at chimp house

office closet

Replace our humble office chairs:

Power clean the chimp house:

And, of course, we have some items for the chimps on the wish list too…

Thank you all for your continued support. We are looking forward to our newly stocked and organized office and chimp house and we look forward to sharing before and after photos with you!

I have an office chair that I need to get rid of. It’s <2yrs old but in good condition. Also, it's pretty comfortable to sit on for long hours. Let me know if you're interested!

You bet, Leah! We’d love your comfortable chair!

How many office chairs do you need? I work in Redmond, across the parking lot from Keeneys Office Products. They periodically put out a bunch of gently used, free office chairs. But they’re in GREAT shape! No rips or anything. Nothing broken. I have them in my house, and have given them to friends when they need one. I’d have to figure out how to get them to you once I get them. I can fit 2 (maybe 3) in my car. If you need more, I could look into finding a truck to borrow.

Monica – wow, thanks! We could use a few. It looks like a couple have already been purchased off our wish list. Can you check in with us in a couple of weeks to see about our chair status? Thank you so much!

Absolutely I’ll check with you then! I also have access to as many 3.5-gallon buckets as you’d ever want (not on your Christmas list, but saw them on your regular list). If I have the opportunity to drive over there, I’d be happy to bring you as many as you’d like.

Monica – where do you live? I live in east Ballard and go to the sanctuary on a regular basis. if you would like to, you could drop the buckets off at my house and I can take them over 🙂

Lynn, I live in Kirkland and work in Redmond. I could come to you some weekend! Diana, can you let me know if the 3.5-gallon is a good size for the bucket, and if so, how many would you like? Just name a number (that I can fit in my car)!

Wow – you work fast! We actually did just get some buckets donated, but could always use some for enrichment. Probably just a few, though – four or five? Thank you, Monica!

I didn’t know about Christmas in July when I mailed off a box to you the other day with a few things. Good timing I guess.

That poor dish strainer is 5 years old. It has had a good life but it needs to move on. I wonder if a real dishwasher could come with it, the one in the kitchen is non functional.

    Hey Guys !!

Did you get a note from Amazon about the Christmas Gifts I sent to you ?

I tried sending you a normal email–but there is something wrong with the one posted as Send Email !

I like to remain hidden and behind the scenes—but I need to let you know about the shipment.

Chelle – I don’t think we got a message from Amazon. Sorry you had trouble emailing. The address should be either [email protected] or [email protected]
