Negra sit on platform arms crossed

Negra and moms

May 11, 2013 by Diana

J.B. is working on a post for tomorrow about Jody and her children. We celebrate Jody’s birthday on Mother’s Day because of the many babies she had during her decades before coming to the sanctuary, but she is not the only mom of the group. As far as we know, Jamie never gave birth to any children, but all of the other ladies at the sanctuary – Annie, Missy, Negra, Foxie, and Jody, had multiple children (as far as we know, Burrito was never a father).

Negra’s children bear a remarkable resemblance to her. Luckily her son Noah and daughter Angel are both living at the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in the world – Save the Chimps in Florida. Negra’s daughter Heidi, remains in limbo at the Alamogordo Primate Facility in New Mexico.

Here are a few photos from yesterday of Queen Negra and below those are photos of Noah and Angel:

Do Angel and Noah get to see each other and do they live in the same group? Both do resemble their mother so much. It gives such peace to know some of the children are safe.

Negra looks so sad! I wonder if she or any of the other mothers think of their children. I know they were taken away while very young but the ladies have to know that something miraculous happened in giving birth. Happy Mother’s Day to all the lady Chimps and those that are Human too! 😉 Burrito, you deserve an extra hug today too!

Im sure Negra thinks about all the babies she had and that were stolen from her, She must, she is so smart, so, I personally feel they do remember and they DO mourn the loss, a mother NEVER forgets her pregnancies.. especially the ones that died and or were taken, I certainly don’t. Chimps are NO different, all the PTSD chimps suffer from, its REAL ,, I think she still feels her losses,

    Darling Negra,

As always, we send our love to you along with Noah and Angel. We know you miss them as much as they miss you. You are so very special.

So many creatures taken, caged, poked and prodded in the name of science but really just to get another grant – dollar support. I wonder when we will ever learn that the creatures here on our earth all deserve to live freely. They become so desensitized!
As with any injustice we cannot go back in time and make it better. All that can be done now is what you are doing – I think the 7 appreciate you. The memories may be there but as with all pain the good news is that the pain does becomes duller as time passes.
