Now that the snow has melted and the sun has returned, the chimpanzees have been really enjoying being outside on Young’s Hill. This morning we witnessed an impressive burst of activity. I can imagine how good it must feel to them to be able to stretch their legs.
Wanda Trotta says
It’s hard to imagine how they could have withstood all those years in a tiny cage when you watch them running like that!
Linda (So. California) says
Such a joy to see them running and enjoying the space. Got a couple of great sprinters there!!
Annie Norris says
This has got me thinking, if I ever make it to Level 3, I better get back on the treadmill and get in shape, or I’ll never be able to keep up with them around Young’s Hill!!
I’m out of breath just watching this video 🙂
Ivy says
Yet another pleasureable video to watch. Glad they are so happy, and glad they got to get out in the warm fresh air and some good exercise. I got tired just watching them run, and boy did they ever. 🙂
Chris says
I can’t believe how fast they can run, especially Missy! Wow! Such wonderful, freedom they now have!! Does Negra just stay all cozy inside and just watch them? 🙂
Elizabeth says
Yes, it’s still blanket weather for Negra. I’m sure we’ll see her venture out more in a few months.
Rita Stevenson says
Oh my,,these girls sure have plenty of bounce, spring and speed in their steps..
I can imagine them going further and further if and when J.B. enlarges Youngs Hill,, they truly love thier hill.
I say the more the merrier,
J.B.
Any chance of expanding the hill..
and
any chance that CSNW might take in more chimps in the future,??
J.B. says
We don’t have any plans to expand the hill at this time. The size of our property and its topography would make expansion difficult, but also it is a matter of priorities. Now that the chimps have a spacious indoor area, a sunny greenhouse, and two acres of outdoor space, we feel that we should invest our resources into other areas of the sanctuary like the veterinary clinic.
As for taking in more chimps, CSNW will always be open to the possibility of taking in a small number of chimps, especially in years to come when some of the Cle Elum Seven have passed on.
