King 5 link to broadcast

May 3, 2012 by Diana

Here’s the link to the King 5 story that just aired about Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest: http://ow.ly/aGS3M

Thanks Gary and Ken for making the trek out to Cle Elum and for sharing the GoPro footage! And thanks to GoPro camera donors who helped us purchase the camera earlier this year and the special group of volunteers who helped install the camera mounts on Young’s hill (more on that later).

The footage is so great, love it! Is there just one GoPro camera or more than one, I’d gotten the impression from the news story that there were numerous GoPros? I was wondering could you all take a picture of what the chimps are seeing when they investigate the camera? Now are the mounts inside the hill area or outside the hill?

There’s only one camera right now but two housings for it. Keep an eye on the blog for another video showing how we made them 🙂

Thanks, JB, I’d forgotten that you mentioned that more information’s coming out later. Did Jamie investigate the camera, I don’t think I saw any video of her doing that?

Jamie did get a closer look at the camera, but I am surprised at how disinterested (maybe even suspicious) she was about them. Around here, we have to build things to Jamie-proof standards, which is a level above chimp-proof, because she is so intent on taking things apart. But I guess there are enough other things to do out on Young’s Hill that it’s not worth her time. Not yet, anyway.

This is fantastic! I love that they mentioned that CSNW is run entirely on donations – important info for people to hear so they can help. =)

Great! The more people who know about the wonderful sanctuary, hopefully the more donations!!
