Great shots. Do you know what Buritto was holding (something with a black round bottom)

I’m not sure what it was from, but it was a wooden figurine with a black, cone-shaped body. Burrito has an oral fixation and he likes to carry around wooden toys and blocks to bite down on.

This must be just what you all imagined when you first starting making plans for the Hill. What a wonderful outcome; so worth all the hard work.

What a difference 3 years make! The chimps have what they and all captive chimps deserve, a sanctuary with a two acre hill where the sky is open, the grass is green and love and dignity is lavisihed upon them by the staff and all of the supporters. It is a very emotional moment to see them on the hill, free at last and secure in their home. They know they will never be poked or proded, knocked down or experimented on again. You can tell that by the peace in their eyes. It is amazing how normal kindness and compassion can turn around these 7 chimps who arrived terrified, frightened, and emotionally scared after living in horrible conditions. It is such joy to see them as they are today. Kudos to the staff, board, volunteers for pourig heart and soul into these 7 adorable and lucky chimps!

Many Thanks to you Karen for getting this ball rolling with the very generous starting donation. It is a thrill every time I see the CE 7 on “the hill”. To watch Missy run for the sear joy of running and Annie trying to keep up. Foxie after quite some time deciding the hill was a great place to be. Jody who likes to hang out by herself on the hill just taking in some quiet time. Jamie who has proven to be leader and letting everyone know when there is a snake or other critters on her hill. Mr. B who is tentative of new places has become very relaxed on the hill and looks wonderful with the sun on him. And Negra who will do just about anything for fresh grass being able to walk out onto the hill and eat as much as she wants anytime she wants is very heartwarming.
Again, thank you for Young’s Hill.

All of the photos are spectacular. The first one of Burrito shows how immpresive his physique is. Of course, sweet Foxie snuggling her doll too. 🙂

Looking at the photos from 4 years ago in comparison to these made me cry. I have only been following the 7 for the last year; but feel deeply how far they (and you as their caregivers) have come.
