Someone to play with

January 13, 2012 by J.B.

In a previous post, I mentioned how it seemed like Missy was anxious for the other chimps to become comfortable on the hill so that she’d have someone to play with. Thankfully, Missy’s best friend Annie has decided that she’s ready to take advantage of her new two-acre playground.

They have to do something active to keep the blood flowing today …. it’s cold! I am so happy Missy got Annie out there to play. She’s hooked now 🙂

Love to see photos of these two best friends together, and Annie really enjoying the outdoors, too. Thanks, JB, for these photos.

This is really off-subject but I noticed in your Amazon My Wish list the GoPro HD Hero Naked Camera, what will you all use it for?

We would use it to get some perspectives of the chimps that we aren’t able to get with our current cameras. KOMO News used a couple of GoPro cameras along with their regular camera to capture footage of the chimps going onto Young’s Hill for the first time. One was mounted above the cage tunnel and another was placed on the ground just behind the fence. It’s possible that we could even place some inside the enclosure, as long as we can find a way to protect them.

Does this sound like a small fund raiser ??

Kathy B, you’ve read my mind. I’ll start the ball rolling with $50 because anytime we can see the chimps from a different perspective, I’m in. JB, not only would you have to chimp-proof it but Jamie-proof it, boy, talk about a daunting challenge.

OK, Candy -I will match you for $50.

Does this mean there might be a chimp-cam at some point in the future?

      • J.B. says

Not a webcam, if that’s what you mean. We are still limited by our lack of a solid internet connection, plus there is the added problem that the chimps have access to over 80,000 square feet of space, so we’d need a lot of webcams for people to be able to catch any action when they log on 🙂

The GoPro is more of a traditional video camera, except that it is very small, rugged, waterproof, and easily mountable.
