Kickin’ and Clickin’ Country-Western Dance

January 30, 2012 by Debbie

Yesterday, Jackie and I put out a party with “Texas in a box” sent from Candy C. She also sent a DVD with line dancing for us to show the chimps. We thought Negra would like to see the dancing, so Jackie went to set up the TV so they could watch from the front rooms. We had come technical difficulties so instead decided to just do a video search on my iPad and show the videos to the chimps that way! Negra, Jamie, Foxie, and Burrito all showed interest. Jamie especially liked the boots the dancers were wearing. Thanks again Candy for sending us fun enrichment!

Oh ya Jamie was eyeing the white boots.. trying to figure out how to get them. Burrito, of course was movin to the groove.Perhaps some 50 or 60’s oldies but goodies, would truly get them all moving around, Do you’all ever just play music for no partivular reason other then to just have music on the chimp houses.?? This enrichemnt seem ed to me , more of of a THINKING and wondering enrichmnt vs the far more physically actively engaged enrchmnts..

Typically chimps don’t like very loud noises, so we don’t play music all that often. However, occasionally, it can be a form of enrichment, but I think they enjoy it more if there’s a video to go with it 🙂

Oh my gosh, it was amazing how Jamie’s eyes completely shifted to the dancer’s feet…she truly loves boots, doesn’t she? Even her lips were twitching! Just wondering…does she ever put on her own boots anymore? She probably got bored with them a looong time ago, which only proves her intelligence, once again!

Chris, in this video from the day we celebrated “Texas in a box” day, you’ll see Jamie trying on a pair of new boots 🙂 So yes, she still likes them.

Debbie, yes I did see that…I meant she is probably bored with her custom made boots that Vegan Wares made for her…who wants those when you can have new ones!! 🙂

There is a Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Brazil that has bands come and play for the chimps once a week.
You can find them on YOUTUBE. Maybe you should set a Boom box once a week and let the Chimps listen and maybe dance.

The ladies all had, “WTH” expressions on their faces! 🙂

Burrito, I like Cotton Eye Joe myself, so go ahead, get down!
