Infinity Scarf

December 4, 2011 by Debbie

Volunteer Connie was telling Jackie and myself about these neat things called “infinity scarves.” They are made out of t-shirts and look pretty fashionable in my opinion. We thought the chimps might enjoy one so we decided to make one out of an old style CSNW shirt. Jackie and Connie took it into the chimp area to stretch it out and see if anyone was interested in playing. To everyone’s shock, Negra was interested in playing a game of tug-o-war. She does not play very often with caregivers, and definitely not for long periods of time. This game went on for infinity! What’s even more interesting is that Negra woke up on the wrong side of the nest today—she was a little grumpy all morning. I’m glad we were able to cheer her up!

So glad Negra had some fun!! I loved the very end of the video. I have a ton of old work t-shirts from my old shelter job, if you guys would like them to make more scarves I’d be happy to send them out. They are cotton, colorful and just have the logo for the shelter on them. Let me know and I can ship them out. Hugs to Miss Negra!!

So great! One of the chimps I used to work with loved playing tug with pieces of her acacia browse. I miss hearing that sweet laughter. Great job you guys!

Marcia, this game really did go on for a very long time… at several points I paused filming to interact with Burrito, and Jamie in the other room, too. Everybody gets their needs attended to! 🙂

So good to see her playing and laughing so much. And Burrito too. That has to be one of the best jobs in the world. 🙂

How fun to see Negra have as much fun as she was having!! And seeing Burrito wanting to play so badly was hysterical. (Of course it was only funny because I knew he would get his turn.) Oh those laughs are so good for the soul!! Thank you.

I’ve never seen a chimp “belly laugh” before! What could be better than seeing that? Especially with Negra! So great. Thanks for always sharing such great posts!

This was so wonderful to see Neggie playing especially that belly laugh! Burrito was so cute like the little brother that wants to get in on the game and beautiful Jamie at the end, getting her new scarf. Perfect video, since I know that all got tended to : ) Thank you so much for posting. I wish I could see them in person.

What a joy to see Negra having fun, although I think Shari hit the nail on the head…Negra seemed to be working on helping make the scarf, laughing at the goofy dancing her human counterpart was doing! (However, wish I were there stretching scarves with the chimps than in the office!)

How fun to see Burrito and his “me me!” You do have great jobs!
