Today on Young’s Hill

November 7, 2011 by Debbie

I put out a lettuce forage and everybody—even Negra and Burrito—spent some time on the hill today, despite it being pretty cold out. I didn’t get a photo of everyone, but here’s a few shots from this afternoon:

Thanks, Debbie. Good to see them out there. It is cool and windy in Seattle, too, and I expect even more so in Cle Elum. Happy to hear Negra and Burrito were out as well.

It looks to me like Foxie is missing the tips of her fingers. or is it just the angle of the picture?

That’s just the picture, it was zoomed in and didn’t get her whole hand. Chimps are knuckle-walkers, so they walk on the backs of their fingers, which are curved at the knuckle. So sometimes it might look like their fingers are cut short even when the picture is zoomed all the way out—but that’s just how chimps hold their hands while walking.

You can see the knuckle-walking very well in Jody’s picture above.

Thanks, I can see it in the picture of Missy also, now that I look closer.
