Watermelon Bowls

July 10, 2011 by Jackie

We have some pretty creative folks around here at the sanctuary, but volunteers Stephanie and Katelyn are definitely two of the most creative people I know. Yesterday, the two westsiders (what we Washingtonians call folks from Seattle, or west of the mountains) stayed all day and spent part of the afternoon making watermelon bowls. They cut out the center of the watermelon and filled it with all types of fruits and veggies. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that Burrito, who literally could not stop food squeaking the whole time, slept good last night.

And from the photos, I think it’s also safe to say that Annie was pretty pleased with the watermelon bowls, too:

Wonderful job! I love seeing Burrito’s handsome face so happy. I absolutely laughed out loud when I saw the first picture of Annie. She looks as if she’s doing a high-wire routine and I expected to see another bowl balance on her foot! Sweet girl : )

It makes my heart so happy to see the transformation in these beautiful souls. May God bless you all for your generosity of Spirit.

I’m surprised Burrito didn’t have his feet around a watermelon bowl. I’m glad to see Annie getting her fair share of the goodies. In the first picture of Annie, is her left arm bare, it looks likes the hair stops right below her shoulder? Stephanie and Katelyn you all did a great job.

      Hi Candy,

Yes- good observation. Annie overgrooms her arms. J.B. mentioned his recent post about Jamie’s overgrooming. https://chimpsnw.org/2011/07/overgrooming/

Oh my gosh….I was THERE and these pictures still made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes! Really great photos, thank you!! I wish you all could have heard the truly unbelievable soundtrack of food squeaks provided by that cute boy Mr. B. And LOVE that picture of Annie!! It makes my heart just want to burst seeing them SO happy. Those bowls were largely Stephanie’s doing and she just has the biggest heart ever. 🙂
