Another good decision

March 24, 2011 by Diana

Another company, Capitol One, has pulled their ad which had a chimpanzee “actor” and has pledged not to use primates in advertising again!

Read the full announcement sent out to Primate Patrol members a few days ago.

Thank you to everyone who reaches out to these companies to let them know why they should not use chimpanzees and other primates in their advertisements. You are making a difference!

It’s great to know that my email made a difference.

On a side note…my good friend recently gave me a little gift of a notepad with a chimp on it. It was a thoughtful gesture. But the photo on the front was a chimp with a fear grimace (looking a bit like a human smile.) I couldn’t take it. It gave me the creeps. I told my friend about the difference between the playface and the fear grimace. Knowledge is power.

Kat, that really is the best way to help bring an end to chimps exploited for entertainment – keep spreading the word, write letters, and tell your friends to write letters, too. Thanks for being an advocate for chimps!
