A new doll for Foxie

October 27, 2010 by Elizabeth

When Foxie gets a new doll that she really loves, she often engages in what I’ll call “ritualistic adoration behavior” (don’t quote me on that — I just made it up). You’ll see what I mean when you watch this video that Jackie put together:

What a joy to watch!! Such a great “happy” dance. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a troll doll with that much hair. Wonder how long it will take Foxie to “de-hair” her!!

This is a lovely video, Elizabeth. Thank you. It is so sweet to see Foxie so excited. (Linda, I think it is Jamie who takes the hair off of Froxie’s trolls.)

I find this one of the most fascinating videos you’ve posted. Really really interesting.

Eerily, I see me from so long ago, alternately cuddling and kissing my new doll and then trying to play with her, showing her my other toys as if she were real, knowing all the time she wasn’t but still wishing! Fascinating! Laughter, memories and some tears too.

What a great video, Jackie. Cindy, you are so right. It does take one back to our dolly days when we loved them with all our heart. Oh Foxie, I could have watched another umpteen minutes of this video. Such a sweet girl.

I appreciate these videos so much because they always trigger a similar, happy memory of my own. It’s a reminder that, as we grow older and life happens, that we should stop and embrace those feel-good moments, like Foxie and her dolls.

Cindy, you said it perfectly, by the way.

Oh my! I saw this doll in the kitchen when I was there on Sunday and wondered when Foxie would get it but never dreamed that I would be so touched by her reaction! I agree with the previous comments about loving our dolls as children. How sweet to see her “introduce” her to her other dolls. Great footage, Jackie, and great to see a happy chimp!!!

What a sweetheart! I love seeing the joy she gets from her new playmate. So entertaining to watch her “play” and rattle the toys for dolly. As a new Mom, I can see a lot of similar behaviors in Foxie and my daughter. So glad Foxie gets to enjoy her playtime in peace. Keep doing great work!

I loved the way she put the doll over her onto her back like a baby chimp. Really interesting & moving video. Thank you for posting it.

absolutely wonder footage of a very happy girl … it must just send slivers down you all when you see them so very happy. that is also a great looking trolly doll, love the long flowing tresses. do you think foxie is taken with the hair, or the troll faces, or both … or none??? you ‘guys’ work as hard for us out here in the world away from the chimpsters as you do for the chimpsters. love the vids!!!

I adore Foxie Chimpanzee! Thanks so much for this video. I see a kindred spirit in her as I have been known to exhibit such “ritualistic adoration behavior” (Good one Elizabeth!) over a certain stuffed monkey of mine. 🙂 It is so wonderful to see her so happy and excited.

Watching her loving and grooming her “baby” warms my heart. I can’t imagine the trauma she went through all those years losing her own babies. How very cruel! It’s so wonderful to see her so excited about her new baby.
