A chimp and a monkey

July 28, 2010 by Elizabeth

The chimps seem to have a love/hate relationship with stuffed animals. Stuffed monkeys and apes, in particular, tend to get their insides ripped out quickly and somewhat violently. Sometimes, though, if they have that ineffable quality, they are granted a temporary reprieve and become snuggle partners.

Volunteer Stephanie P. and her niece Sara donated this giant monkey to the chimps, and he/she is still “alive” and kicking, against all odds.

And by chimp I meant “giant, stuffed monkey”! 🙂

That corner seems to be the 7’s favorite. I, particularly, like the second photo with Jody because of the way she’s placed her hand on her foot, between her thumb and second finger.

Any idea how long my giant stuffed teddy bear lasted? It was the Teddy Bear in the YouTube video last December. I actually bought that Teddy Bear for my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day at a WalMart in Carrollton, Texas. I hope it made the chimps happy! It was terrific to see it in a video.

I’m happy to see he is still alive and that Jody is enjoying his company since I thought he would surely meet his end with Foxie on day one. He is super duper snuggly, but if his demise brings enjoyment to the chimps..so be it.

That “stuffed monkey” is gigantic!!!!! One false move and you’re history!!!!

Wonder how long he/she will last? Maybe they see stuffed animals as intruders. I loved one of the first videos where a big stuffed monkey was poked at through the bars and had water spit on it…LOL.
