Cleaning enrichment

November 9, 2009 by Jackie

Each morning, after the playroom and front rooms have been cleaned, we clean all of the toys using dish soap and disinfectant. All of the toys are soaked in a tub of soapy water and then each toy is scrubbed, rinsed, and then disinfected. Jamie has watched her caregivers and friends engage in this process day after day for well over a year now. Today, I think she thought she would give it a try…

I have volunteered for twice a week now for over a year. Jamie has always paid close attention to the cleaning of the enrichment, I have asked her if I am doing a good job, sometimes I get a head nod and sometimes get a look of “whatever”. I always ask her if she would like to help and tell her that I think she could do a better job of it than I. Today I think she thought she would take me on…………..

    I never underestimate you Jamie…………….

Way to go Jamie. I liked how she put it in a “tub” for drying. JB are we in jeopardy of losing our job? 🙂

While the cleaning is cute – I love the blanket hugging! LOL!

I’m curious about how you choose the length of your videos that you post. I think it’s obvious that we would all love to see more but I’m wondering if you’re restrictred by your time on UTube. Today’s video was very brief compared to some others.

Jamie never ceases to amaze me with her intelligence. I’m sure it’s a challenge to keep these chimps entertained. I love that you all give them so many different enrichment activities so they don’t get bored.

I love the way Jaimie focuses on the job to be done and then, at the very end, she wipes her brow …well, sort of looks like she does …as if she’s had a tough day cleaning. Well, Jaimie, I wish you many more of these “tough” days – you soooo deserve it!!!

btw… is that a lovely, lace tablecloth on the yellow table in the background complete with a pail centerpiece????

Ohhh….. I forgot to add… Denice I’m soooooo envious of your volunteer work!!!! It sounds wonderful. To help out like that and to get to see the “Seven” up close is just priceless. Too bad my commute from NY is so far!!!!!!

Julie- I do not believe we are restricted by You Tube. The lengths of our videos are random- sometime the activity just doesn’t last very long, sometimes we have a busy day and just don’t have time to film a long video, and sometimes the chimps get tired of us filming! We do the best we can… 🙂 In this video, this is all I was able to capture on film.. she “wiped her brow” and was done with it…

And Gayle- that “lace” tablecloth is actually a TUTU decorated as a tablecloth! (We try to mix up the way we put out the enrichment, too) 🙂

And NY isn’t THAT far for a commute, is it?? 😉 We’d love to have you!

Glad you all enjoyed the video!!
