July 4th forage one year later

July 4, 2009 by Diana

I think it’s really starting to sink in that the Cle Elum Seven have been in sanctuary for one year. We can now look back at blog posts from exactly one year ago and see how much has changed, including our videography skills! So, watch the video below and check out the video and photos from the last 4th of July celebration: https://chimpsnw.org/?p=177

WOW! I guess I didn’t realize just how much a year has made in all our lives. Looking at this year’s video was fun to watch and then going back to last year’s video made me do a double take. (and not just because the videos are better!:) The 7 are much more relaxed, brighter eyed, and happy. Thank you for the video Diana and to all you caregivers, a big thank you on loving our chimps.

What a great video! Dang that corn looked and sounded good. Thanks for getting Burrito into the video, appreciate it. Negra looked beautiful and replete, I had to chuckle though, that’s how I was sitting while watching fireworks. Yes, your video skills have grown.

I just went and looked at the July 4, 2008 video, I’d forgotten that the outside section wasn’t open yet. Also, my jaw still drops open when I see that picture of Negra, geez, what a difference a year makes.

Looking at these beautiful, content animals now compared to last year, I’m just amazed. We need to be reminded now and then what confinement and mistreatment does. Thank you for giving them the care they deserve. And, yes, you guys are becoming pro’s at taking videos!!!!! Keep those videos coming!!!

Looks like they had a wonderful 4th! I just love watching them enjoy their food, especially Burrito..LOL. Smacking from humans will make me grit my teeth but I love hearing our boy do it! You all are the greatest!!!! The chimps look so good..healthy, happy, and free to do what they want. Kudos to the staff for your loving care!

Negra IS pretty good looking… and it was really hot yesterday.

I’ve never seen Negra sit like that before. She looks like her tummy was more than full. (and no blanket?)

Denice – Negra really didn’t eat all that much. In fact, when she saw that Jackie was going to serve hot dogs, she dropped her corn 🙂 She seemed quite comfortable – I think she was a bit warm, though. Looking back at the video from last year I would say that Negra hasn’t gained weight, but she hasn’t lost either. We’ll try to work on that in year two!
