Families

July 15, 2009 by Elizabeth

Super supporter Candace C. has been doing some amazing work tracing the family trees of captive chimpanzees in the United States, including those of the Cle Elum Seven. We’re all very excited today because Candace just found one of Negra’s daughters, Angel, who is safe and sound at Save The Chimps. The mother-daughter resemblance is striking:

Thanks, Candace!

OMG! She’s beautiful! Her birthday is 09-04-85, but no description of her yet on the Save the Chimps site. She is in a group with four half brothers- (they all have the same father). Thanks Candace!

indeed both very beautiful.. I’m sorry they’re seperated and forced this life.. but so glad that they are both in excellent care now..

I believe there is a fellow (his name escapes me now) at STC, who closely resembles Burrito.. Candace, Tamela or anyone else know who this is?

    great information ~ Go Candace!

Elizabeth, Do you have the names of any of the mothers and/or fathers of the Cle Elum Seven?

How wonderful but yet sad. It shouldn’t be this way. But as Dee mentioned, they are now being well taken care of…I hope to live long, happy lives.

Elizabeth, do you think there would be any recognition between the two if introduced?? I’m just curious …

Candance, I can’t imagine the time you have spent on this, it’s just wonderful to know where Negra’s daughter is and that she is safe now.

I wonder if Angel has had any babies?

Thank you for all your research

OMG! She is just as beautiful as her mother. I wish they could be reunited but I know that isn’t possible. Thank you, Candace for all your hard work. It’s a relief to know Angel is safe and living the life of a chimp. I wish we could get ALL chimps out of the lab and into a safe haven. They deserve so much better!
