A new life for Jody

June 29, 2009 by Elizabeth

It’s sometimes surreal to think that just over a year ago, Jody was stuck in a cage in a windowless basement with nothing to do, nothing to see, and nothing interesting to eat. Now she spends her days gorging on watermelon and resting in gigantic nests. What a difference a year makes!

Thank God Keith rescued these beautiful animals. Imagining them in that windowless basement breaks my heart. I love watching them eat, play, and make nests. I love knowing they are so happy to be out of that basement and they know now what love is. To some people it might look as if it’s just a video of a chimpanzee eating watermelon and making a nest. To those of us who love the Cle Elum 7 and know their past, it is so much more!

I couldn’t agree more, T !!! I love watching them becoming chimps – the way it’s meant to be. Jody does such a wonderful job with her nest. It looks so comfortable I’d like to snuggle in there myself. I could just see my family’s faces if I made a nest of my own on my bed tonight!!!

Ah, to lie around in a big comfy nest and tear paper after gorging on water melon! I couldn’t help thinking the knotted hose hanging down was for room service! She deserves evey luxury we can give her!

That is one happy girl. I was watching that video while listening to Coldplay’s Viva la Vida. It went so well – her munching her that watermelon with a smile on her face and then building the nest – tearing up the paper during the lyrics “that was when I ruled the world..” It was a happy moment for both of us 🙂

That is one comfy looking nest! 🙂 LOL – I’m pretty sure I need to go fluff up my own bed a bit.

And even if that hose isn’t literally for room sevice, the chimps do have room service just the same, yes?

Hurray for Jody and the other Cle Elum 7! What a delight to see them enjoying life after so many years in prison.

What type of things do they like to play with?

I am thrilled & honored that Miss Jody tore-up and used my birthday/anniversary card that I’d sent to the Gang, as part of her nesting materials at the end of this video… GO JODY!

as always Elizabeth ~ great videos! thank you!
