Sad news from the chimp world

April 1, 2009 by Sarah

It looks like there’s been another chimp tragedy this week. There’s no such thing as a “pet” chimp. They simply do not belong in unqualified facilities, and this sort of heartbreak will keep happening until there is no more breeding  of captive chimps into this cruel trade.

This is so sad and horrible. All I can think of to spin it a little positive is with increasing frequency maybe this will really spur Congress to act and also keep educating people about the right and wrong places for chimps. Just noticed Inside Edition is doing another pet chimp segment tonight including information, so they say, on who breeds them. Let’s hope they can tone down the sensationalism and reach people where it counts.

I hope so too Cindy! It is so unfair! The chimps are always the ones that pay the ultimate price. No animal should have to die due to the stupidity of humans. What bothered me about the article is there is a reward for information leading to the dogs that disappeared. What about the “several other chimps”..what happened to them?!

My sentiments exactly! What has to happen before the chimps are safe?

So far this has been a “NON-EVENT” in the news world.

Please write to NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX or anybody else you can think of to get this front and center in the media. This is a very effective tool to educate people in this issue of owning chimps as pets.
