Foxie and Jamie have been so playful together lately. Not that we don’t love playing with Foxie, but it’s even better to see her playing with other chimps.

I am in New Zealand and finally got access to a computer and am thrilled to catch up with the Cle Elum Seven activities. I can see they have not stopped living life to the fullest!!
I love seeing the chimps play together. It is good to see her playing with Jamie although I’m sure she will stay play “toss the troll” with the humans. I just love them all!
Hee hee!! Looks like they’re having so much fun!
Is it common for chimps to pick one ‘best friend’ that they spend the most time with (Annie and Missy, now Foxie and Jamie)?
Is there anything better than just having great fun?! 😉
Anna – Yes, it’s common for chimps to have some friends that they are closer with than others. In the case of Foxie and Jamie, I wouldn’t say that they are best friends, but rather “best playmates”. They like to play rowdy games of chase and wrestle one another, but they don’t spend time grooming each other or interacting in other ways.
I’d say that you see patterns similar to humans relationships – chimps seek out other chimps for companionship, for emotional reassurance (as in Annie and Missy), as playmates, and even as co-conspirators!
