Foxie’s Left Hook

December 5, 2008 by J.B.

Ever wonder why we don’t go in with the chimps? There are many reasons, but here’s one you might not have thought about: Chimps play rough. Even when they aren’t being aggressive, chimpanzees have the ability to inflict serious damage on us humans. We just aren’t built for their style of play (I get a headache just watching them).

Make sure you have your volume turned up when you view this clip so you can hear all of the slaps and punches (and laughter!)…

Hearing them laugh like that is hysterical! Good thing they’re tough!

Wow a snap like that on my back would leave me black and blue for ever! I won’t be asking to go in with the chimpanzees any time soon! They are having such fun…the laughter and the play faces are delightful.

Go Foxie, hurry Jamie duck, I found myself saying. Hearing them giggle is so great, it’s intoxicating. They have really started to develope mentally and physically. It must be amazing to see them each day growing stronger and brighter. I feel like I should tell somebody I’m a chimp pal to Burrito and I am sooooo proud. The kind of proud you get from helping somebody. So take good care of my buddy I love him so.

I just LOVE hearing those chimp giggles!! They look like they are having so much fun, but I see (and hear) what you mean by playing rough! 🙂 I enjoyed watching them so much that I didn’t want the video to end!!

Chimp giggles and play faces are just the greatest things to hear and see! I wish I could be as tough as a chimp. I wouldn’t stay bruised all the time. They sure are giving each other a good tussle. It really does warm my heart to see them so happy and having so much fun. I get so excited when I visit the site and see a video posted! I love each and every one of them!

I agree! I see a video and squeal with joy myself. Those chimp laughs are so good to hear. And I loved seeing the troll helping Foxie with her punches, as if she needed any help! You go girls. 🙂

This video is great and shows just how strong they really are, I’m just glad it was in play and they were having fun. The play faces were great to see.

The first time I saw how tough chimps can be was on Chimp Eden when Jinga was first introduced to the males. They gave her some really brutal blows to her, which could easily injure or kill a human. People who have chimps as pets should see this video, that even in play, they can hit pretty hard. That’s why people should never, ever raise chimpanzees as pets. I’ll admit I never had any idea how strong chimps can be.

There’s a chimp, Cinder, at the St. Louis Zoo, on their website, she had alopecia and lost all of her hair. You want to see a chimpanzee’s strength look at Cinder, her body is all muscle. After seeing her I’m just in awe of chimpanzees with their strength and beauty.

OUCH! Welts and bruises all around for me, along with seeing a good galaxy of stars!

But, it’s all in good fun in the world of chimps, so I’m glad!
