Sanctuary Fashion

October 2, 2008 by Diana

I was going through some photos last night and I started to pull out those that demonstrate the keen fashion sense of Jamie and Missy.

Here at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, we do give out clothing as part of the chimpanzees’ enrichment, and Missy and Jamie in particular occasionally choose to wear things that we give them. It is entirely their choice if they do. It saddens me to see “entertainment chimps” stuffed into uncomfortable clothing in order to produce a laugh for a commercial or a television show, so I hope you’ll recognize the difference and appreciate their own ideas of fashion!

Jamie and Missy, you both have such a fashion sense! I’m going to have to look for more unique clothing for you both to try, if you want. Who knows it might catch on with the others, like the troll dolls.
    Way to go girls!

    Love ya!

These photos are fantastic, such style.. Were the girls able to use any of the necklace items I had sent in the care package, or the beanie. I am amking scarves for them now for winter, I cannot wait to see Foxie with her beautiful sparkling pink scarf!
Negra, Jamie, Jody, Foxie, Missy, Annie, Burrito and the staff of CSNW, I had been going to the wish list and wiping it out at night , because I had told my husband if I won the contest at least $2000.00 was going to the wishlist, because Audrey’s husband was building the shed, so UPS would have had a trunk full. I am sooo sorry we lost by very few votes, probably 3-4 people voting everyday and we would have been able to send you soo omany things you needed. The doggie that won only win with 500 votes, and Tank at the end had 60 votes going in daily, he had CARE2 supporters, Raider Nation, Rottie Lovers and all my friends, so we almost did it, we missed by sooo little!

    Good Night!

CSNW~~~ Someone needs to get CSNW on this List of Non Profits, I was looking through but I think it is something you need to do! Otherwise I would for sure add you !
    URGENT!!!

Act now to get Free Money for the Animals!

BAM!!! in less than 60 seconds you can get $2 given to the Sanctuary! Just three clicks of your mouse, and you (along with our other supports) could raise up to $80,000.
    00 for the Sanctuary!

This is a deal that is too good to pass up – so I am asking you to do this TODAY – RIGHT NOW!

Squidoo (an Internet company) is offering donations to a small number of non-profit organizations, and for each vote these charities receive – they will get $2. They have pledged up to $80,000 to give – but time is of the essence – as each $2 vote reduces the pot, so we have to act fast.

There are absolutely no strings attached, no signing up, no questions or surveys. All you do is click on this link to get to the Squidoo page – then click on the wild animal sanctuary button – and hit “submit”.
You’re Done – and we get another $2 added to our total!

    Please spread the word!

Diana, thanks so much for distinguishing between the chimps choosing to play with clothing and chimps in the entertainment industry being forced to – and as we know, have been trained with unthinkable brutality.

Shelly C, I’m so sorry to hear that Tank was so close – he’s still a big winner in our hearts. Thanks for sourcing the new revenue potential for the Sanctuary, too, that’s awesome 🙂

Thanks for the tip on Squidoo, Shelly C.! I sent an email to sign up CSNW as a partner charity.

Sorry about the contest – you (and Tank) were close!

The only Chimp Sanctaury on there for people to choose is Chimp Haven, so I had to choose that one until you get CSNW on there!!

When people sell on that site they can choose to sell and split with the organization/non profit of their choice, that would be a great spot to sell my soy candles on and give CSNW a percentage of the sales!!!

I think we should start a new magazine: Sanctuary Style. 🙂

AMY I LOVE YOUR IDEA!!! I’ve often thought of how awesome it would be to travel to animal sanctuaries all over the world and write a book with amazing photos – and include really great animal and human stories……

Shelly — I love YOUR idea!! The thing is that by telling the animals’ stories you are exposing what they go through before they get to sanctuary. You don’t have to go into much detail about their ordeals — just by telling how they change after arriving at sanctuary explains what they went through before.
