October 18, 2008 by Diana

Jamie continues her playful mood today. This is the first time I have seen Annie playing without Missy!

Diana, before Jamie was sent to Buckshire, was she in a home with people that put clothes on her, do you know her history? I was just wandering with the way she always is wanting to wear clothing of some sort, did she live with someone where she was dressed daily or does she just love putting on clothing, what is your opinion on her clothing fix?

    Thanks
    Shelly

Watching any of the Cle Elum Seven brings a smile to my face but to see them playing and enjoying themselves so much brings a chuckle along with a smile. Jamie knows she is free to be herself and her fashion sense absolutely warms my heart.
If I had been able to do what Keith has done for these chimps I would not have hesitated to do so. But Keith, you are not just a regular guy. You are a warm, caring, selfless man who has given seven chimps a second chance. Believe me there are not so many “regular guys” that would do as you did. God Bless you all for your dedication. You will surely have a place in heaven for your efforts.

It just keeps getting better!! First Foxie starts coming out of her shell and now Annie is playing without her other half, Missy. That video was wonderful! My guess goes to Foxie watching the play. I think it looks like her and the trolls are a give away.
I can’t wait for the next breakthrough and who it will be doing what!

Shelly – good question about Jamie’s frequent wearing of clothes. We don’t know a lot about her history, but she was used in entertainment prior to being sold to Buckshire. So, it is possible she was dressed up in clothing when she was younger. When I see her with clothing on and doing “human-like” things, I do wonder if it is an indication of her past. It may or may not be. Negra, who we believe has been in research her whole life after her capture in Africa, often puts a blanket over her head, but it’s doubtful that she was taught to do that.

I always want to include information so that people who are coming to the blog or happen to see a photo of understand that the chimpanzees are not being forced or even encouraged to do anything. We do want to provide things that the chimpanzees enjoy, so we give them a wide variety of enrichment.

I hope that people love each of the Cle Elum chimpanzees for who they are, and I so appreciate the opportunity to share with you as we learn about them.

When I see Negra with the blanket over her head it makes me think she has never really had a blanket, she has never had her won space so when I see her cover her head it is like she is making her own private space inder there, plus as we get older we doo like to have a nice warm fuzzy blanket to cuddle with, I know I do! I love that they have variety to wear clothes and jewelry, ties and crossing guard vest, it seem Jamie like to have a skirt, or something over her rear end, the lace is the cutest, it makes me want to go but her a wardrobe and a wardrobe rack so you can choose lace or flannel, which ever she prefers!! It is ther life and finally they have uptions!! I am finally feeling better so may be able to post again! It is so hard when you are on here everyday and then I went to the hospital and they tried to kill me Monday with needles in my soine, now back to the surgeain thsi week, I think I am going to have to have disc replacement surgery….not looking froward to that after what I went thru this last week. And what will I do without my laptop in the hospital, maybe these days there have a wireless connection in the rooms….lol!! Thanks Diana great pics, videos and posts the last couple weeks, havent been able to tell you that!

Wow! You go Annie! And Jamie, you are dressed to the T as usual. Most becoming. We love to watch to see what Jamie wears. What fabulous play time for us to watch. The longer videos have been wonderful the last few times and so beautifully done. Thank you. We enjoyed the hand slaps at the beginning like playing patty-cake or giving a high five and the progression in to wrestling is beautiful. Both so gentle yet strong and enjoying it so much. Pure joy to watch. Annie did a beautiful “spin out” of jamie’s wrestling hold at the end of the video. They looked like pros!
