Foxie and Her Dolls

January 10, 2026 by Krissy Brasfield

On our recent “Ask the Caregiver” blog, someone asked about Foxie’s dolls.  Lynne K asked, “Where does Foxie keep her dolls?  Are they rotated by keepers or does she have access to all/many of them?

Great question Lynne K!

Foxie has an entire bin dedicated to her dolls.  You’ll get a look at the bin in the video posted today.  How many dolls do you think are in that bin?  I know the answer, but you have to guess before I tell you!

Everyday, before closing up for the evening, a caregiver or volunteer prepares enrichment for the next day.  We have a selection of all sorts of fun things to include, such as toy hammers and small wooden toys, slinkies, bouncy rubber balls, socks, headbands, scarves, books and magazines, cups and bowls, boots, and DOLLS!  We try to include a little something for everyone, and that includes a nice selection of Foxie’s favorite dolls!  She has them for the day, then when we clean the following day, we remove them and all of the other enrichment items and give them a good cleaning.  Once they’re dry, they go back into her bin until the next time they’re chosen.

Foxie spends a lot of solo time with her dolls.  But you’ll also find her incorporating her dolls into play with her chimpanzee friends, and her caregivers!

Please enjoy today’s video of Foxie and me playing doll LAUNCH!  And don’t forget to guess how many dolls are in Foxie’s doll bin!  You won’t win anything if you guess correctly, except bragging rights.  Ha!

Okay. I’m now convinced. There is something mysterious, or magical going on at CSWN. First, we witnessed Negra aging in reverse. Next, Burrito continues to become more boyish every day. Now we see Foxie doing backflips and headstands as if it were her early years at the sanctuary! Must be something in the water—a fountain of youth perhaps?!

Love this video of you two. Foxie is forever adorable, especially when it comes to her dolls. I’m guessing there are 62.5 dolls in the bin. 🙂

      I think it is the clean Pacific North West air Kathleen;
I lived in that same air for 10 years and I feel like a 40 year old ( I am 72):joy:

The other day I thought : “I wonder if Foxie is still doing BAT-poses off the ceiling..”
And there she is doing her backflip. Fantastic!
I think there are at least 100 dolls in that box.

Just yesterday I saw a recent video of Foxie hanging upside down like an adorable little bat! She’s still got it! The correct number of dolls in Foxie’s bin is 139 – you were pretty close!

My guess is 52 dolls! Is there anything cuter than precious Foxie being her amazing silly self? And a backflip, too!

There really is nothing cuter! The correct number of dolls is 139! Thanks for playing!

Loved seeing the play with Foxie and her dolls! Not to mention the backflip and Foxie’s intense excitement and joy with the attention and play. Great! I’ve watched the video several times and it brings a smile each time. I guess 105 dolls in the bin.

The correct answer is, “Not enough!” I remember a few years back, when Strawberry Shortcake and friends were put on the Endangered Species of Amazon list; we stacked the shelves with them! There’s a photo of our good work that Xmas.
Lol, Kathleen, with 62.5…bc surely there are several torsos sans limbs... I love games, and wanted to say “67”….does this bin include the hairless trolls that are used for frozen peanut butter vessels? It’s hard to see. In that case, my number would go higher…I’ll say 68, higher with bald trolls.

    • Krissy says

      January 12, 2026 at 12:35 pm

Not enough is absolutely correct!! It does include hairless trolls, so the number is higher – it’s 139!! And, yes, I panicked a bit too when the Strawberry Shortcake dolls became harder to find!

        January 12, 2026 at 12:38 pm

Darn those bald trolls! They’ll get us every time!
