August 4, 2025 by J.B.

Someone recently asked me what my favorite part of this job was. This is it.

Go, George, go!

J.B., are you always out there with George? And I think that looked like Diana at the top of the hill, but I couldn’t be sure.

      So far they have been.
I think it’s because he’s going it alone, while the others went out as a group and had each other for support. I could tell he was checking on them to make sure they were there. So sweet that he knew he could count on them!

What a brave, delightful young guy. Loved his excitement at the beginning.

Yes George!! I love his willing readiness to experience and enjoy the life available to him.

Wow! Such a daring guy. He appears to look towards you for some reassurance. Very sweet. I am truly impressed with George’s willingness to always put himself out there. I love this brave boy.

George may be more comfortable when he has friends to share the bray with? It’s like he’s landed on the moon all alone out there. But yes what a lucky chimpanzee to have been rescued by CSNW. I love getting to know all the chimpanzees and seeing the daily blogs has become a highlight of my day.

George just gets more and more confident! It makes me so happy to see him outside, exploring. After so many years in a tiny cage, I know it has to be scary for him!

I am impressed at how easily he climbs and maneuvers the structures. For a chimp that was in tight confinement this must be a very liberating feeling. It’s also a blessing that he didn’t loose muscle tone. I look forward to a time in the future when he is out with his group. The food must be a fabulous experience too. Fresh and healthy – served with love.

I’m trying to remember… Are there trees at the top of the Bray for him to climb? I know there are trees at the top of Youngs Hill but, the Bray?

I wonder if there’s a way that you can get just George and Cy out on the Bray together?

He’s so funny sticking his tongue out! He always reminds me of Beni the Bonobo.

There aren’t any mature trees at the top of the Bray – the terrain is too steep to run a fence around them.

George and Cy will be able to go out on the Bray together eventually but because we couldn’t intervene in the event of a fight, we won’t do that until their relationship is firmly established.
