Ellen posted photos of the Christmas in July celebration for Gordo yesterday, and I had the privilege of putting together the video today of clips that Ellen and others captured while preparing for and during the grand celebration.
I think I know mine, but what’s your favorite moment in the video?
Today happens to be Betsy‘s 18th birthday! The cows celebrated with some homemade applesauce, and it was reported that they loved every last tongue-full of it!
Betsy is a wonderful sentry and protector of her little herd, and was such a great mom to her son Nutmeg, who passed away at the sanctuary last year.
She is also the friendliest cow with us humans.
There’s so much I love and admire about Betsy’s personality. I hope we get to share many more years with her and with Gordo at the sanctuary.
I, too, hope that Beautiful Betsey and Gorilla-esque Gordo will have many more years to enjoy life at their sanctuary home. A happy birthday to Betsey Beauvine.
My favorite part of yhe video is when Gordo hurried down to get a mango and then stood with his mouth wide open. Two other parts of the video I enjoyed were Lizz with the cart laden with packages trying to get through to Gordo and then it was nice to see the cows enjoying the applesauce. Guess I couldn’t narrow it down to just one favorite moment!
Gordo was more interested in opening packages than he was eating!
It seems all the boys love mangos!
I’m a fan of Cy’s no-hands beverage consumption.
Lizz, both Rayne and Cy are fans of your ink! I see a lot of grooming time in the future!
While i enjoyrd Gordo tearing apart his wrapped gifts my favorite was a quiet moment of Cy in profile really enjoying his mango. Happy birthday Gordo and Betsy too.
Thanks for compiling this wonderful video, Diana. It’s always fun to see the extravagant extremes the caregivers go through and the exotic foods served at a sanctuary birthday party. Mangoes for the chimps! Homemade applesauce for Betsy and the gals! Clearly, everyone can taste the love.
It looks like Gordo had a wonderful birthday party. What a chuckle to hear someone call out “Where’s Gordo?”, and in a nanosecond, Gordo comes running down from the upstairs. Was that a giant pile of chow dust that Dora was eating up?! (Thank you Paulette for waving your magic birthday wand and sponsoring the celebration!)
I just love watching them enjoy their parties! It seems like the anticipation is half the fun!
