Reality TV?

January 10, 2025 by Jenna

Some supporters have seen a scooter video put out by one of our fellow sanctuaries, Project Chimps, and thought a few of our residents would enjoy watching it! If you haven’t seen the original video, I will link it here. Burrito loves playing on his scooter and Honey B has a few skateboards she enjoys! I showed them the YouTube video first and recorded their reaction. As a bonus, I recorded Cy’s group watching it because I knew they’d get a kick out of it. Enjoy!

Thanks, Jenna. What an amazing treat for them to see their fellow sanctuary chimps having fun. Thank heavens for CSNW and Project Chimps giving these precious beings a place to be happy.

    Thanks, Jenna!
I think Burrito paid special attention when Herc started doing the spins! I’m not too surprised that Honey B didn’t care much about it, since she uses her scooter for a practical purpose ….foraging around the room. Maybe she needs to see skateboard videos, lol!
Cy was the real surprise! He’s usually so serious, that I was rather surprised to see him seeming to enjoy it, with that droopy lip. But even Dora, Lucky and Rayne seemed to find it interesting … Now for some Slinky videos for Burrito and Willie B! How long has it been since Willie B played with his slinky? Now that he’s #2, does he have time for play?

Hi Linda! Gosh, it’s been a longggg time since I’ve personally seen Willy B playing with a slinky. Maybe close to 2 years (of course, I don’t watch him 24/7). His new thing he does when he is feeling silly is play with these new bouncy balls (chimp-safe). He throws them against the walls! Gordo just started doing it too. Super sweet

I noticed that he hasn’t been, maybe since the Californians arrived? I mean, he DIES have a serious image to uphold, can’t have the underlings see you being silly, now!
So glad that Bubba liked the video! Maybe he’d like Willy B with a slinky. Or bonobos…There’s a channel called Slogger Vlogger that has lots of bonobos, chimps, gorillas outside.

Is there one that likes to watch TV the most:)?

Also, is there a safety/rescue protocol if you are ever hit by wildfires?

I know Willy B is a big screen addict and he likes for caregivers to scroll tiktok and instagram!

      Yes and yes.
Willy B’s fav movie is “Ice Age”.
Cy often requests movies at bedtime. He likes Ice Age and rom-coms, favs are Must Love Dogs and The Notebook.

Hi Shavonne! If I had to give you a top two for TV-watchers, it’d be Cy and Burrito. Their attention spans are much longer than others. However, they prefer different types of shows. Burrito is only interested in watching chimpanzees and has his own way of letting us know when he wants us to change the video. Cy likes human movies. We put on “chick flicks” like The Notebook on, or ones with singing/dancing, such as Footloose. He eats it up.

Yes, we do have safety protocols for fires! It would depend on the situation, of course. However, our property was also built with fire safety in mind!

Oh, I loved this!! Jenna, you’re the best! Thanks for showing this video to the chimps while capturing each person’s reaction. A a big thanks to Linda for the great idea! And thank you to Project Chimps for sharing Hercules showing off his scooter skills and his sweet happy face.

Burrito and Cy really enjoyed watching. So did Honey B. Not sure she was losing interest or, wheels spinning in her brain, she was envisioning how she could grab your phone to video herself spinning on her scooter. Let’s face it, Honey B is not going to allow Hercules to show her up!

Next time you play the video you should demonstrate the scooter to chimps while it plays. I think Cy, Willy, Lucky, and Dora will be star pupils!

lol, I agree a demonstration for Bubba is called for! Borrow Beezus’s. Maybe Kelsi would be up for it:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Kathleen, go back and watch again. I think Honey B had her eye on the remote control on the TV table and thinking what she’d do if she got it in her chimp fingers.
