Helping Rayne’s Dry Skin

October 11, 2024 by Jenna

Caregiver Ellen has previously wrote a blog about Rayne’s dry forehead treatment and today is a follow-up! During Positive Reinforcement Training sessions, we continue to work on applying lotion to Rayne’s dry forehead so she’s more comfortable and less itchy. Her dry forehead seems to be genetic and as you can see, she is quite tolerant of allowing us to apply topicals to her head to help treat it. It takes a few minutes to cover the entire surface because we do smaller strokes with the brush. However, there were a few moments in the video where she let me do several strokes back and forth before bringing her hand up, which was awesome.

Good job, Rayne!

it looks like she realizes that this helps the skin and she’s making sure you get every spot covered. I was surprised to see her instinctively know which area you needed to do at the end

ooh Terry’s saliva can’t help,:yum: but you do what you can. My cat loves coconut oil and licks my plate, or my hand, if there’s coconut oil on it. Olive oil? No. Butter? No. Just coconut oil.
Rayne is even more beautiful with soft smooth forehead:blush: She’s such a trooper.

What kind of lotion do you put on. She’s so patient. Terry’s raspberries are hilarious. Thank you!

Coconut oil. has to be edible/non-toxic

Rayne is very patient throughout her special forehead facial procedure. I love the way she always wipes her forehead after you brush it. I wonder if it’s because the brush tickles? Or she doesn’t like it at all? Or because she’s helping you out by spreading the oil around? 😉 Whatever her reason, who cares! Rayne looks magnificent in the end plus her good buddy Terry was there for support and raspberries.

I’d recognise those raspberries anywhere! Terry being helpful…
Rayne was so relaxed, not even wiping it off at times. Love Gordo in his box.

Her forehead looks so moisturized in the after photo! She’s really got the hang of it! Of course, having Terry nearby for moral support doesn’t hurt either!
I love seeing Gordito enjoying his box! I swear he’s part cat.
