A Walk with Friends

June 3, 2024 by Grace

Patrols around Young’s Hill with Jamie are pretty much a daily occurrence- even today, when the wind is winding, Jamie was off on a walk first thing this morning! She found me again later in the morning when I was rinsing some toys and gestured to a pair of boots that had been donated a few weeks ago that she loves. I gave her one, thinking that’s what she wanted, and when she took it out of the food chute I thought I had gotten it right on the first time. So, I was feeling pretty good about myself. 🙂 A few seconds later, though, I looked up to see Jamie squeezing the same boot out over the top of the playroom door before chucking it down at me. Feeling like I actually hadn’t gotten it right, I picked up the boot and put it on. Voila! Jamie took off and together we (and Missy!) went for a walk around Young’s Hill.

I recorded the whole walk to share with you today, because I find that I always feel re-centered after a walk with Jamie. Something about the calm pace she takes, the quiet, the view, and the moment that you’re sharing with her is grounding. I thought it might be for you, too, so please enjoy this ten-minute walk around Young’s Hill with Jamie (and Missy).

Thank you, Grace for taking us on your walk with Jamie and Missy. I found it very relaxing and could almost feel the wind on my face. (The boot is oh so beautiful, too!…)

Man, did I need that! Thank you Grace, Jamie, and Missy! Today might be windy but it looks so beautiful. I think your favorite view is Jamie’s favorite too. I like the way she stopped to look around and take it in. Thank goodness Jamie has a slow but steady walking style, if she were to take off like Missy you would have a difficult time keeping up with two different boots on (and I’m guessing Jamie’s choice is ill fitting).

I love seeing the chimps outside walking in nature. I used to volunteer at Wildlife Waystation and the place wasn’t large enough for the chimps to have their own walking space. I am so happy they now have that opportunity. I miss those guys, but am happy that they have more attention and caring keepers! Thank you!!

Thank you Grace for that walk around Youngs Hill, quite relaxing and I loved seeing Missy sprint off in another direction. I guess we dog walkers should consider ourselves lucky that we are not requested to wear specific shoes or boots like the caregivers. I have often wondered, do they usually fit you?

we are over the moon that Jamie likes her boots! When we saw them, we knew they were destined to belong to her! We love the blogs and videos and watch daily. Love from Sunny (hot and humid!) Florida

It goes without saying Grace, that if you are invited to walk with the Boss, you have to be suitably dressed!! I find it surprising that she never tires of walking the same route every day….with friends or without, and sometimes requires motor power. She probably knows every inch, every view, any changes etc after so long! Bless you Jamie.

Love the boots. Jamie definitely appreciates style! I love how Missy jets off again after a while, I suppose Jamie’s stroll was too leisurely for her!
Lovely Lucky smoosh face at the end, too. She’s such a sweetheart.
