Glad with May

May 30, 2024 by Anna

There’s no particular theme with today’s blog, just a series of moments that represent this lovely season fairly well.

Spring time means that Jamie’s group doesn’t want to give up the Greenhouse for cleaning. Negra and Foxie are infamous for their ability to collude and camp at the top platform of the greenhouse when we invite them inside with a morning forage. Who can blame them though? There’s nothing better than grooming and napping in the sunniest place in all of Cle Elum.

Here’s Jamie and Burrito grooming in Greenhouse 1 before lunch:

This afternoon Negra sampled the chives picked fresh from the garden:

Negra and her luscious brown eyes:

For lunch, Rayne found a whole fennel on the Bray:

Terry was also a busy lunch forager. One of my favorite things is to look up the Bray and see a speck of a chimp spending some quality alone time.

And all the world is glad with May.

Thank you for today’s lovely blog, Anna. The quote by John Burroughs was a perfect ending.

I was unaware that Negra and Foxie are in cahoots together when you need to clean! While I was reading this fact, my mind painted such a funny little picture of the two of them. Thanks for sharing that one little detail. And thank you for your selection of photos today. Looked like a fun and relaxing day for both sides of the chimphouse.

“A speck of a chimp” — what an adorable and heartwarming description, Anna. I chuckled when I read it. It’s truly wonderful to see the chimps out and about with their various toys, blankets and food items, playing, cavorting, climbing and relaxing. Such excellent examples of TRUE SANCTUARY!

    Another good thing about May?
Life magazine has an issue out called “Apes”! Not exactly in the budget atm, but the photos are so grwat I had to get a copy, which will surely be a hit with a certain chimpanzee woman we all know and love…..if anyone wants to get a backup for the time when this copy becomes too “well-loved”, get one soon!

I imagine Jamie will get a kick out of it. I can already imagine her cozied up in a nest with a boot pillow flipping through it!

That was my first image. The second was seeing it tucked into her pelvic pocket after making staff dumpster dive for it, so I thought I’d mention it here. $15, but since it’s sure to be a fav, maybe others can get one.
