The Top of the Bray Club

May 27, 2024 by J.B.

Looking for Cy, Lucky, Terry, Gordo, and Rayne? Better lace up your hiking boots and prepare for a workout because they’ve been spending their afternoons at the top of the Bray.

Always funny and entertaining to see “Cy” with his magazine in his mouth!

Wow!!! They look as if they’ve been out there all their lives. So brave and looking so comfortable with everything. Brilliant work J.B in making the Bray even better for them……the crew’s work all paid off.

Magazines are to Cy what troll dolls are to Foxie. I love a man who is never without something to read. 😉

Have any of the chimpanzees slept outside all night?

Hi Jenny – The chimps makes their nests in the playrooms, front rooms, and mezzanine after dinner. On rare occasions, someone will stay out late in the greenhouses or chute until it gets dark but usually they are in their beds inside by 6pm. It may be because they prefer the security of the indoors, or it could be because it gets cold at night here in central Washington, even in the summer. Because they sleep inside, we close off the outdoor habitats until morning.

Really lovely to see them enjoying the new structures and hanging out together.

I was a volunteer at Wildlife Waystation and was able to interact with the chimps. It’s great to see that they have gone to a place that is as great as yours is and to see them in even better surroundings!! Thank you!! (I really do miss the critters!!)

Spectacular views from the new structure. Like jaw droppingly spectacular! I can see why it’s popular to climb up to the top. It’s always a treat to observe how easily they climb—powerful and graceful. As you watch them you must experience the most incredible ball of emotions (joy-pride-amazement-exhaustion) looking at how far The Nine have come in a relatively shot timeframe.

Cy the bookworm, always with his reading material. I see him carrying his magazine pages with him but do you ever him see him sitting down actually reading when he’s outside like he does inside? I’m mostly curious because I wonder if taking in the beautiful views wins out over reading.

Thanks for hiking up extra high at very end so we could enjoy the view of the entire sanctuary as well as the view beyond. It’s paradise!

Once and a while he stops to look at his magazines but I think, like Jamie and Foxie, he just like to have his favorite things with him.

Wow, there’s always something new to discover in these amazing videos! JB all that hard work you and the crew have put in on the Bray sure has paid off. Just watching Gordo, Lucky and the gang chilling out up there with that breathtaking view fills me with joy. Paradise on earth. Wonderful and a huge thankyou!
