Annie is definitely ready for her closeup!!

JB — Do you show the chimps photos of themselves? If so, do they recognize themselves and each other?

I know that we all love the freckles and markings on our chimps’ faces…but I’ve always thought that Annie has that flawless skin that would put her in a magazine if she were a human. Let’s face it…. perfect skin is a one in a million event….and Annie has it. Annie is the Twiggy or Cindy Crawford of the Cle Elem 7. She is a model and she knows how to work a camera.

“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.”

The camera sure loves her! A co-worker, who never made a comment on my love of chimps, saw Annie on my calendar a while back and totally shocked me by saying, “What a beautiful ape.” Annie is inspiring.

There are chimps who are cute looking, like Mr. B, but Annie is just beautiful. Her features are perfect, it helps that she’s relaxed, no more severe stress in her life. Whenever I see pictures of chimps, in labs, there is fear written all over their faces, their facial expressions reveal the lives they are living. But, in sanctuary, all that pain and fear is gone, I think it can take a few years of sanctuary life to erase that look, but when it disappears, wow!
