Jamie’s group gets a new TV

December 9, 2023 by Amanda Hathaway

We received a nice new firestick TV to install for Jamie’s group and so far it’s a big hit! Now both groups can pass the time on cold snowy days when going outside just doesn’t appeal. Foxie was the first to try it out. She began by displaying at it, but quickly settled into watching videos of the other group on our YouTube channel. Soon Jamie joined in, then Annie, and later Burrito.

Don’t forget to check our Amazon wishlist for Christmas gift ideas for the chimpies!

I love Foxie’s little display at the TV. Of course, Jamie and Annie are much more casual in their entrances.
And Burrito… That boy really can’t stop playing!

I think Foxie was displaying at the neighbors on the screen! And Jamie with her long tube tool, was she trying to change the channel? What a perfect gift! Thank you to the thoughtful Firestick TV donor! Just in time for cold winter afternoons.

She most definitely did not want “the neighbors” in her space! But wasn’t that her buddy Gordo on the screen?!

Foxie was dubious of the TV initially, but over these several days that has been replaced by fascination. Today, she came right into the front room and asked for the TV to be turned on and Jamie soon joined her. And Jamie was tyring to poke it more out of curiosity than anything.

Were they watching themselves at the end, Amanda? Maybe that’s why they were calmer?
Also, which movie were they watching?

You’ll soon have to create playlists for each on the YT channel: Jamie’s playlist, Willy B and Burrito’s slinky technique playlist, etc.
For Jamie, I’ll suggest Slogger Vlogger on YT. It’s someone who filns chimps, gorillas, gibbons, and bonobos at zoos in England and Europe.
Since the bonobos are outside (as are Supermum Jazz the orangutan and her two charges, Joe and Jim), it probably wouldn’t upset her. and she would like watching the bonobos play (imho)

      Hi Linda,
I’m not totally sure what they were watching in that clip, but they watched a Scooby Doo movie for a little while and a Christmas flick or two.
We’ll check out Slogger Vlogger. Thanks for the recommendation!

Well, that T V certainly got the chimps’ attention! Foxie’s and Jamie’s vigorous display of excitement got my attention! I do believe all those chimps recognised the chimps on the screen. It never ceases to amaze me the lenghths you go to to ensure that the chimps are stimulated and having fun. Thank you for sharing and thank you kind donor.

Had to watch this again with my morning cup of coffee. I have to ask, has Negra joined in to watch a showing?

Jamie and that shot of her captioned “dinner and a movie”, sigh. I swear, I love her so much it hurts.

      Hi Kathleen,

Negra hasn’t been particularly keen on the TV, but she doesn’t seem opposed to it either. Just this morning, all six chimpanzees were in the front room, some watching TV and Negra sat on a high bench. Maybe she was just curious what all the fuss was about!
