Blanket Fort Day Contest

October 22, 2023 by Diana

We have for you a little something different and interactive today! On the enrichment calendar that Chad prepares for the month, today said “Blanket Fort Day”.  We caregivers are notorious for getting really involved in cleaning and then forgetting to set up blanket forts when it is blanket fort day. So, as a way to remember, Grace suggested we turn it into a bit of a contest, with you being the judges!

The way we divide up the staff for cleaning, is (roughly) half go to the old side of the building and the others to the new side of the building. So, there are two “teams” – one for each side. We were going to try to have each team be anonymous, but there are some nice photos of caregivers included (who you may or may not recognize). Please try to remain completely impartial, regardless.

Chad came up with these categories in which to judge our forts:

  1. Best Overall
  2. Best Photo with Chimp
  3. Best Destroyed

We’ll start with Team A:

Playroom:

Playroom Loft:

Greenhouse:

And now we have Team B

Riverview Greenhouse:

Marmot Mountain Playroom:

Marmot Mountain Playroom Catwalk:

Lupine Playroom Catwalk:

Front room 7:

Mezzanine:

Please respond in the comments with your judgements!

Wait a second, blanket forts bring to mind something…. what could it be…

Oh, yes! Comfort & Joy!! Be sure you are signed up for the Comfort & Joy online auction, opening next week, and the other festivities, including a Behind the Scenes Virtual Visit on Jamieween!

Best overall goes, I think, to Team A for aesthetics.
Best photo with chimp is surely Team B.
I don’t understand what Best Destroyed means.

I think it might be Jamie or Missy? Neggie’s forehead is a little balder.

I have to declare a tie….both have some very artistic and creative ideas and I’m sure the chimpy people loved them. As regards photos….it has to be our beautiful Burrito of course. Does he model for a photographic agency in his spare time??

You guys crack me up. My first thought while scrolling through the photos was what would someone who is brand new to your site think of this! I mean, the reading materials alone would make someone question your sanity! And I am glad you included photos of the Teams working and reclining.

It’s really too tough for me to choose a winner. I vote a tie for all categories. The scene of chimps from Team A, gathered up high in the greenhouse, is clearly their way of giving you thumbs-up-hands-down win! But….on the other side…..Honey B pulling off a “Where’s Waldo” blending in by the scenic waterfall proves Team B is equally a great success.

Thanks for creating so much laughter and JOY by spreading about all that COMFORT for the chimps.

I like the same pics with chimps that you do, Kathleen, for the same reasons

Absolutely the Hope Banner with chimp. I haven’t succeeded in recognizing individuals but regardless of who it is its stunning?

While I agree that the pic of Bubba will make a great merch design, and love Beezus in the Sheets, best pic with chimps goes to Neggie’s platform in Greenhouse A, bc look at how many chimps are enjoying it! Same for best destroyed.

overall, I didn’t think the playroom A was really a fort, but you got into it in the loft and greenhouse! overall, though, for the number of forts, I give that to Team B. Love the mezzanine fort especially!

It really is hard to choose!
For overall forting, I’d maybe give it to team A.
Best with a chimp is too difficult to choose! The Burrito pic is amazing. Rayne being her usual beautiful self is also great and, of course, Honey B looking like she’s up to something is perfect. Let’s call it a tie!

I think the Best Overall should go to Team B (but it was close ). I think that Best Photo with a Chimp is a tie.

Best Overall = Team B Best photo with Chimp = Team A (Bubba w/ Hope) I eagerly await “destroyed” pics I suspect tomorrow …. Fun photos and contest. 🙂

Oh my goodness what a hard decision to make as you have worked so hard to create a fun space for these darlings. Creativity and the huge riot of colours! I would say best team for me is team A in the greenhouse with gorgeous spooky blankets ( Halloween is just around the corner) also the Hope blanket with the chimp looking up at it is truly amazing. I think it is a tie and a tough decision as team B also pulled out the stops. You are all awesome!

  17. Adrienne says

I vote for Team B in all categories.

  18. RC says

It was a close one but I am going team B for the overall. It looks like everyone had a lot of fun with the blankets and so really, it’s a win-win, right?!

Best with Chimp is hands down Burrito looking up with “Hope”. Such a precious picture.

I agree with Rayne. I think best overall is front room 7. It looks super comfy.

I must point out the Marmot Mountain Playroom as it has Jody’s lilac blanket?

Team B for overall and Best with a chimp is the photo of Burrito looking up at the Hope blanket.
