Celebrations, Forages, and Sunshine!

May 18, 2023 by Grace

Today we celebrate a long-time supporter of the sanctuary! Karen Young and her family have made so many things possible for the chimps in our care and we are so very grateful. From Young’s Hill to Ryan’s Lookout on The Bray, they continue to help provide amazing moments in the chimps lives. Karen- from each and every one of us here, thank you and happy, happy birthday!

Today, all the chimps enjoyed forages of avocado cups, corn, celery, and more! It’s been a beautiful sunny day here in Cle Elum so Jamie’s group enjoyed the forage on Young’s Hill. I hope you enjoy the photos and videos from today!

Thank you, Karen and family, for all you’ve done for the sanctuary to make the chimps’ lives so enriched! It’s wonderful to see them foraging on Young’s Hill and to see the new group exploring Ryan’s Lookout. I can still see Jody gathering her loot and looking proud about her haul of goodies. Foxie and Strawberry Shortcake are on the lookout for her. Your open-heartedness for their lives are contributions to all of ours, too!

oh, I’d forgotten to watch the video!
First, in the pics, Grace, look at Annie’s hand! I love her hands.

Can we all talk about Neggie swinging UP onto the platform gracefully, like Missy!? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before. If I have, it’s been a long time! Well done, Neggie! I hope she got some corn…

Karen, I think Foxie’s toes in the video say it all…

Thank you Karen and Don for this special birthday forage. Talk about the best gift ever—for you, the chimps, and all of us too.

The avocado cups were a hit with everyone! The word Bountiful comes to mind….food, friends, joy, love.

Oh, and thank you, Grace, for the extra photos, long video (with perky forage music), and bonus sounds of satisfaction.

:innocent:…….. They all seem like they really hit the Motherload ……I love the little grunts….. those little sounds made…. you’d almost think there was Rapper in the making:grin:

Thank you all for your happy birthday wishes. The best gifts ever are seeing the chimps enjoying a special treat, everyone on the blog who invest time and effort to stay in touch with the chimps and support the sactuary, Diana, JB and the incredible staff who work tiressly for the 15 chimps, to our little angel chimp Jody who will always be part of the sanctuary amoung the lilacs on the hill she loved, and to Don and my family who made this chimp party happen. It has been the best birthdsy ever! Thank you.
