Mave is Reunited!

March 10, 2023 by Jenna

As Anna mentioned yesterday, Mave had to take a trip to the clinic on Wednesday. While she took yesterday to herself to rest, she was ready to get back to her group today! Thankfully, Dr. Erin gave her the all clear and we were able to reunite her.

We started out by giving Mave a breakfast date with Honey B to gauge Mave’s energy level. They were so excited to see each other, although Honey B really just wanted to inspect Mave’s entire body. After the breakfast date, Mave and Honey B were reunited with the rest of the group. The arousal level was high because of how excited they were to see her, so of course, some drama ensued. But the group carried on as normal, as you will see in today’s video!

Mave has done amazing at walking away if her group members are grooming her wound too much. Keep up the good work, Mave! I think she is just so happy to be back with her friends, especially Dora! She’s been busy in the Greenhouses all afternoon absorbing some sunshine (despite the fresh snow) and grooming with others. We’re so happy the 9 are back together.

When someone bit Mave, or when someone bites someone else, how do you split them up and get the injured party out?

We are able to ask them to come into a specific room or space and ask everyone else to leave. We can use food as reinforcement!

Oh, I’m so happy to see Mave back up & about after her wound! I’m relieved the rest of her group seem to be going relatively easy on her as she continues to heal. It’s understandable they’d be curious but I’m glad no one is being too rough on her. Thanks to all the healers, caregivers, and other participants in her quick turnaround!!

It’s amazing to me that after basically two days apart from her group, Mave’s reunion caused such a stir. You’d think her being gone for such a short time wouldn’t elicit that much of a reaction. But what do I know? Also interesting is that they knew she had been wounded and where the wound was. Or did they know she had been hurt BEFORE she was separated for treatment?

I would say that the overall high arousal of Mave coming back, despite it being a few days, is very common and expected! The overall excitement can be expressed in a variety of ways. I think they were able to identify Mave wound so quickly because of them seeing her bleeding a few days ago and us then seperating her.

Everyone seems to know exactly where the wound was!
Glad Dora doesn’t take too much trouble from her brother.
What a unique way of climbing the stairs these guys have! Gordo, Dora, and ?Terry? too!

I was so hoping that I’d see an arm extended …….like an olive branch….. to possibly pinpoint the assailant …….Oh well……I would so love to put a donut pillow under maves tush every time she sits down…… It pains me ……and I I’m not the one injured :astonished:…… God forbid they start picking scabs ……and Terry…STAY CLEAR OF MAVE and Good For You Dora for standing your ground

Chimps have amazing relience and healing. Sounds like all is forgiven after the scuffle. Of course, none of them, including Mauve, thinks it is rude to inspect a wound in such a private area. And, oh boy, the joy of scab picking. Take it easy, Mauve, just walk away if it gets too much.

Mave, glad to see you are back with your family and feeling better. Just tell everyone they can look once, but absolutely no touching. Geez a lady is entitled to her privacy.

Like others, im amazed at just how the other chimps can instantly zoom in on the wound. Its like the wound has a flashing beacon saying its here, come look. But, Meve those luos smacking really shows just how much you still live your food. Like everyone else has saide, as much as your friends and family want to see your wound let them know no touching, its your bum not theirs, so its off linits. Great work to the team mankibf sure Meve is safe and well.

Like everyone has already pointed out, I too was surprised that each individual in the group knew exactly where the injury was. It seemed funny when Mave gave into Honey B but after Terry, the final inspector, Mave must have given a big sigh of relief! And she kept walking away from everyone trying to get some privacy. But, nice knowing everyone was curious and/or concerned.

It was a joy to watch her holding on lightly to her cup, enjoying her smoothie. I am so happy her recovery was speedy and she’s back with her group!

Nurse Honey B is giving Mave a final once over before allowing her to be reunited with the others. The exam seems to be a little longer than necessary if you ask me.

Thank you all for taking such good care of her:)

I couldn’t believe Mave was already sitting on her tush. It always amazes me that such fragile looking skin is used as a seat! I’m sure their pain tolerance is very high, since living in the wild you can’t be seen as weak. Thank you all so much for the care and attention you provide. Much love…

I love that she still had her breakfast apple, and no one was trying to steal her food
