Jamieween 2022

October 31, 2022 by Anthony

This year’s iteration of Jamieween was a joyful success!

With the help of our amazing supporters, we caregivers prepared a feast and party to celebrate The Boss’s honorary birthday. The staff collected some video clips and photographs of the event to share with you all. Please be aware that we also recorded the highlights of the other group’s party but haven’t had time to sort through all the files yet. We hope to share additional content from today’s event very soon!

Some of the plentiful treats and toys we served and delivered to the chimps today:

Burrito:

Jamie:

Jody (with the prized pumpkin):

Jamie turned 45 years old this year, but the decades haven’t slowed her down one bit. Yesterday, for the first time in her life, she courageously shimmied her way up into the canopy of a real, living tree. This chimpanzee’s confidence, intelligence and curiosity truly know no bounds, and we’re honored to care for her in her sanctuary home.

Here are some of my favorite photos of Jamie from the past year:

Happy birthday, wonderful, wonderous Jamie. May your new year of life be as joyous as the sound of your food barks in this video.

They groan when something is really good. But Jody’s “dinosaur growls” are special. Find the Thanksgiving 2018 video for some really really good ones at the end!

Today’s pics are really delightful; all of them. Burrito taking the pumpkin inside was a hoot!:jack_o_lantern::ghost::jack_o_lantern:

Nothing could “dampen” Jamie’s special celebration. Happy 45th year Jamie! You got a new backyard, with trees, for birthday! Enjoy every day…

Once again Jody scores the pumpkin! (Well played pumpkin heist Burrito… while it lasted.)

And I have to ask, how does anyone get work done with Burrito around?! He is ridiculously funny.

    Happy Jamieween to all!

(PS to Anthony: I have saved these same imgaes of Jamie as my faves too.)

    HAPPY JAMIE-WEEN EVERYONE !
Looks like everyone had a swell time. I always love your beautiful decorations for the parties, you all work so hard to make it look festive, and then here they come….. And like every good party, in seconds, the place is trashed 🙂
Thank you for another great Jamie-ween :revolving_hearts:

Oh my, Anthony, does Jamie have a cold? Did a pepper go down the wrong way? At 1 minute in…I’ve never heard that before. I heard it again, but suspect you had 2 people filming, and that’s why. But it almost sounds like it again when she starts climbing the ladder. She was more excited for this than I’ve seen in a while-did she get her whole apple or pear at some point in the day?
Watching Bubba with the squishmallows, I’m convinced our friend needs a hippity hop-anyone besides me remember those? He was trying to bounce on the squishmallow like he does the giant kong! 🙂
Thanks for making the Boss’s birthday fun, and for sharing it with us!

Oh Linda, I have some very fun and a few painful memories of hippity hops. The laws of physics literally slapped me upside my head when i was stupid enough to not foresee the outcome of hitting a hippity hop with a wooden T-ball bat. That bat bounced off the hipity hop and its trajectory was locked in on my 5-year-old forehead. I had a goosehead above my right eye for a week! But Bubba is much more coordinated than I’ve ever been and i know he would thoroughly enjoy one. I’ll pop over to amazon and see if i can find a few, sans the wooden bats ;~}.

        ouch!
We’d have to make sure staff approves of the material. They’re only about $20, but you have to get one that would tolerate 100-120 lbs (the kid size won’t, they have a weight limit of 80 lbs). Can you tell I’ve looked into this already!?

I love watching Jody happily snacking on her stolen pumpkin while Burrito plays silly, silly games in the background! Happy Jamieween to all!

Greatest present ever was Jamie and Missy climbing their trees! The cherry on the sundae of their beautiful life in sanctuary. Not the life they should have had, but their sanctuary life is top notch.

Seeing Bubba think he had a chance with Jody’s pumpkin, ha ha ha; she reminded him of just who she is and don’t mess with her hard-won prize and interrupt her dinosaur rumbles!

He is such a character. i imagine he keeps everyone entertained throughout the days.

Whew, Jody ended up with the pumpkin!?. I was waiting anxiously all day to see if she would. Happy Birthday, Jamie.

I am starting to think that it is Jodie’s favorite food, because she gets it every year! It’s usually Jo, Foxie and someone else, I think Annie?, taking turns with it

Happy birthday dear Jamie. Looks like you had an amazing day and we hope the year ahead is full of happiness. It looks like Burrito had a lot of fun too as we know he makes the most of each and every day and way to go Jody with the prized pumpkin. Thank you for the wonderful post and pictures and video and thanks to all who made that beautiful party possible!
