False Spring

February 10, 2022 by Anna

These last few days much of the Northwest has been experiencing a “false spring” in February. The remnants of snow from our massive January snowstorm have been rapidly trickling away in this 52 degree “heatwave.”

Perhaps it might be too early to be planting seeds in gardens, but it’s never too early to explore Young’s Hill. Jamie’s group positively poured into their outdoor enclosure as I opened the door this morning. The snow has melted from all the important spots so perimeter walks are back in demand.

Six Chimps on patrol

Jody and Annie checking out the neighbors (Cy’s group in the chute).
Missy
Even Negra made an appearance to soak up some sun!

Meanwhile, the greenhouses are prime hangout spaces right now.

Dora, Terry, Cy and Rayne in a grooming puddle.
Also- big shout out to this guy who turns 7 today! Here is Nutmeg enjoying his birthday bale.

    Thanks, Anna!
Love seeing everyone out and about!
And I’m getting better! I can identify everyone in the grooming party, except that guy in the middle!

Yippee! Makes my heart sing to see the Seven (even Negra…or should I say especially Negra!) out and about on a sunny warm day. Always cracks me up to hear you comment on how they have to check out their neighbors.

Happy Brithday to the most gorgeous bovine boy in the world. You know it’s good food when you’re chewing with your eyes closed in delight and you wear a little bit on your face.

Haha, if he had toes, he’d be rubbing them together!

So Cy’s group has access to the chute? hmmm Photos please! Videos!

I find myself smiling ear to ear seeing the chimps on patrol. I hope they found peace of mind knowing that their few acres were still intact, and assurance that there were no interlopers by the “others”

it appears the panels have been removed from the upper part of the greenhouse. Am I seeing that right? The blue sky is beautiful behind the groomers.

    Happy birthday Nutmeg!

Between the 6 Chimps on patrol and the fencing, your Sanctuary should be VERY secure.
    Also, Happy Birthday Nutmeg!
