Happy Birthday, Christina Roepke!

January 3, 2022 by Chad de Bree

Today’s day of sanctuary is sponsored by Jayne Roepke in honor of the 90th birthday of her mother, Christina Ann Roepke!

Very special 90th birthday wishes to our Mother, Christina Ann Roepke. On this milestone day, we are blessed to celebrate her strength, resilience, ‘can do’ attitude, humor, and sense of caring and grounded purpose. We are fortunate that she continues to bless our lives and fully support her stated goal that she hopefully intends to celebrate her 100th !! We currently have five living generations – we all do our part to keep up with her active lifestyle. As one of five children, and while I didn’t provide her with any grandchildren, she enjoys hearing about my support and admiration of some very special chimpanzee persons (and other equally worthy elephants and other rescued animals) who have been granted a forever life in sanctuary. In some ways, our mom shares some of their most enduring personality traits. Hope, Love, Home, Family, Friends . . . Sanctuary. We love you Mom !!”

Christina, all of us here want to wish you the most special of birthdays on such a milestone! We hope your day is filled with as much love and warmth as possible. We hope to be a part of your celebration when you reach your goal and beyond!

Thank you Jayne for allowing us to be able to help celebrate your mother on such a tremendous day!

What a lovely tribute to this fine person called Christina! Many happy returns to her and blessings to this family, including this special daughter who writes so well and obviously from the heart! This tribute reminded me of my own strong, courageous, loving and very missed mom of mine who delighted in the Chimps, Sanctuary, and being a middle person once when we gave Jaime boots. We are thankful for you, CSN, and all that you do for these beautiful creatures!

Jayne, thank you so much for your wonderful tribute to your Mom and for sponsoring this day of sanctuary, as well as all the rest that you do for the beings there. My mother also was a lover of living things and I’m glad to have inherited that from her as you have from yours. And a thanks to Chad for these particular photos. My first thought of the pic of Mave is that she looks like a Buddhist monk(ess) in deep contemplation and peace, lilacs included. I just had to take a pic of that photo for my phone. I have more photos of the CSNW chimps on my phone than any other category, including one of Jody looking with great glee at lilacs from a while back.

I have a lot, too, and I also love that pic of Jo. I feel like they could do a whole calendar of Jo

Happiest of birthdays to your mother. Christina sounds as if she is 90 years young! Can’t think of a nicer gift than seeing these lovely residents of Cle Elum with their beautiful flowers and the bovine family on a sunny afternoon.
