Raisins and Magazines

September 9, 2021 by Anna

Yesterday I watched Cy’s group put on a dramatic display around their playroom just before lunch. This isn’t unusual, as chimps do daily dominance displays. What I found amusing about this particular show of passion, was that in the middle of all the chaos, plastic barrels getting thrown around the enclosure and pant hoots echoing off the wall, sat Cy.  He was completely calm and absolutely enthralled with his latest magazine. The same thing happened this morning as most of the chimps investigated a food puzzle. As you will see in the video, Cy had better ideas.

    Hi, Anna!
    Thanks for the video!
was that AAA? is Cy planning a vacation?
    This made me think…
I don’t recall seeing Neggie with a raisin board…or not for a while. Does she even bother?

I believe that Cyrus was perusing the latest issue of Conde Nast Traveler, the magazine for those who are so OVER Palm Beach. Oh, puh-leeze…P.B. has been declasse ever since that orange-haired vulgarian set up his HQ there. Au contraire, I believe that Cy is making final arrangements for Provence in late October…

I do believe I’ve fallen in love with Mr. Cy. 🙂

Well, who hasn’t? Still, you might want to drop Cy a line about his vacation plans this Autumn…perhaps he will invite you along?

I love your rasin boards, they are like a tablet termite mound — iRaisin Board! Fun watching the different techniques to get to the raisins. I hope Cy found time to enjoy his rasin bord after he finished his bedtime reading. Isn’t it wonderful he enjoys magazines so much!

I agree with Cy. I choose assorted reading materials as my daily enrichment too. Reading is good for the mind and soul.

A pre-lunchtime ruckus? Hmmm?…What is it about September the Ninth at the Sanctuary? I recall the blog post from three years ago today when the ladies, gathering for a very pleasant Sunday brunch, were interrupted by Burrito’s need to raise the dickens. Oh, the effontery! After causing the ladies to scream and run, Bubba seemed to settle down. His aunt Jody cautiously approached him as if to remind Bub of the expections of his behavior in polite company.

Alas, Mr. B composed himself, and the luncheon proceeded. The next day at Annie’s birthday party, Burrito appeared ever-so-sheepish and chastened. Still, the incident brought to mind the Colbert Report’s special investigative feature on “When Animals Offend our Morals.”

LOL that reminds me of a scene in the Disney movie, chimpanzee. The teenagers were hooting and displaying, but Freddie, the Alpha, sat there as the narrator, Tim the tool man, says “yeah yeah” with the tone of an eyeroll.
