Willy B is quite the tool-user! As you can see, enrichment doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated to be effective.
It was a busy week for the block masons working on the new playrooms. You can see the walls taking shape now that the scaffolding has been taken down. Next week – fingers crossed – the roof goes on and we get ‘dried in’, so to speak. That should ensure that construction can continue even if the weather turns bad. This morning’s dreary snow/rain was an ominous start to the season.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the ranch, the cows were thrilled to regain access to their winter pasture. I’ll have to share the video of them running through the fields in another post.

Ah, JB and Willy B! You’ve made my day — many thanks and “ahhh’s” for this respite from the daily grind. My day has been filled with numerous stressful things over which I have no control and are therefore frustrating. So you can imagine my joy in watching Willy B and his creative stick peering into the tube to find the peanut butter remaining there. And of course the tongue action at the end is priceless. And it’s wonderful to see the walls up so high in the new building. Gotta love it all! Thank you for this reminder of what’s truly meaningful.

What a great video J.B! I love the new perspective. I’ve always wanted to see what is going on inside the tube or other puzzle. Willy B is using all the skills on this one.

You have a ready made builder’s company there for your next extension, J.B. With his skills in using tools and observation of the building work by Honey B and Willy B, plus her scooting around antics, they could put up a new centre, no problem. If they need more help, just call on Burrito in his car, and Jamie finishing off the work that the caregivers obviously didn’t do to her liking, and you’ve got a full team. They would be faster in getting around the scaffolding too! Priceless.

Lol, JB, “enrichment doesn’t have to be complicated “.

What a fun perspective! Up close and personal. Willy B has mastered his seed removal tool. You made me feel as if I was in Gombe studying wild chimpanzees. And my eyes are bugging out over the construction! Amazing the walls are up and now ready for the roof. I noticed snow in your daily forecast today. I’m guessing it must have excited Burrito, he’ll be dreaming of eating snow balls tonight I am sure. Winter is coming….
Please share the video of the cows when you have time. We need a little sprinkling of cow time. I spent this afternoon with three youngster cows and two looked just like Honey and Nutmeg (only much smaller due to their age!). Same hairdo and everything. Nothing better than those fuzzy ears and long eyelashes. I whispered into their ears that someday they would grow up to be as big as Nutmeg! (and these cows are fortunate to live in a sanctuary farm too, one that also rescues pit bull dogs).

That’s an amazing new space. I can’t wait for the day that the Californians have access to it for the first time. And then on to the new Greenhouse space, and then perhaps Honey B and Maeve won’t be so shy about going outside. Congratulations on your progress, it is very inspiring.
