Snacking and monitoring

May 30, 2019 by Anna

Jody is always keeping an eye on her Cle Elum 7 family. The other day she waited patiently for Negra to come back inside from Young’s Hill, all while snacking on several prickly (but apparently delicious) wild rose plants she had harvested.

For those wondering about Burrito today after yesterday’s visit to the new clinic, he is doing great. He’s still sleepy but seems to be enjoying the extra treats and alone time until he gets back to his full-rowdy self.

Thanks for the update on Mr. B., Anna….and that means CGeorge lives to see another day……Though if the girls don’t get him, it’ll just take one game of tug o’ war/keepaway, once they discover he likes it. Fingers still crossed! 😀

Is it my imagination, or is Neggie looking a little less round these days?

A good deal of what so endears me to Jody — and that is part of her beauty — is how much she cares for the other chimpanzees. I hope that she will be able to greet Burrito soon.

Ouchie! How does Jody get to all those sweet green leaves and not get poked by a thorn?! Very sweet the way Jody kept a close eye on Negra.

Well, Anna…Thank you so much for letting us know about Burrito’s recovery…I was quite happy about the “Open House” day at the brand new clinic, (your Veterinarian team sure was stellar) but it felt like my heart was up in the back of my throat when I read that our very special buddy, Mr. Burrito, (while the clinic’s official first “patient,”) had to undergo anesthesia for a procedure…I was worried about his heart, so imagine my relief knowing it wasn’t anything too serious, & I’ll admit the photo of his hand being held in the OR & his looking so “vulnerable” and & still……….. & still, made my heart skip a beat, but when I saw the photo of his special friend, Curious George, in his arm, I burst into tears…I mean how very thoughtful of THAT gesture…He & his six Chimp People friends are beloved so very, VERY much by so many who couldn’t go a day without your blog posts…including me…
I’m really curious if anyone “snuck” in a quick, tender hug of Burrito while he was still very sedated…Oh, how tempting it must have been…
I can’t put into simple words what the most loving, caring & sensitivity that everyone associated with CSN mean to me…(I was in Animal Rescue/fostering for over twenty years, so I know how easy it is (in spite of knowing better) to fall deeply in love with EVERY animal you’re helping recover from some kind of abusive trauma..

    God bless you all…
