Missy

September 13, 2018 by Elizabeth

Missy came alarmingly close to never making it out of the research lab. She almost died while recovering from a hysterectomy shortly before moving to the sanctuary. Missy is so full of life these days that it’s easy to forget that if things had played out just a little differently, we never would have had the opportunity to get to know and love her. What a loss it would have been.

Missy is who we all want to be. She is fearless, cool, and adventurous. She’s strong and athletic, with a penchant for daredevilry. She has a silly sense of humor and is fiercely loyal to her friends. Though she does on occasion honor us with her attention, she usually prefers chimp company. And that’s fine with us – we’re just glad she’s in our world.

Missy was the postcard I got when I first donated to CSNW and it is up on my animal wall along with my dogs and animals I love and are totem to me, so I’ve always felt a connection with her!! Love and hugs to you all…

Missy was my first chimpanzee “Pal” and I was so taken by her adorable, muscular, little body and the way she would zoom and climb. And I was also deeply touched by her friendship with beautiful Annie. I am still mesmerized by her, Missy radiates a joy for life.

“I’m just glad she’s in our world”. What a lovely way to put it, Elisabeth. And I didn’t know she almost died after a hysterectomy at the lab.

All in the name of Almighty Science, of course. Sigh…Again, I am grateful that some
human animals with conscience and courage were able to rescue Missy and her
    friends from their life imprisonment.

    “Until they all come home…”
