T-Minus 2 Days

October 29, 2017 by Kelsi

The countdown to the spooktacular Jamieween has begun and we only have 2 more days left. The anticipation has been building and there are a lot of excited chimps and humans waiting for Tuesday to come. The chimps have been very active this morning and everyone has been exploring Young’s Hill. Unfortunately there were not many photo opportunities, but the chimps decided to save some energy for Jamieween and have been napping and grooming the rest of the afternoon.

Jamie walking the hill and staring out at the view (there were some cows in the field across the highway):

There is still time to celebrate Jamie’s big day by becoming Chimp Pals with Jamie or any of her friends!

I can hardly contain my excitement for Jamieween!!! I am counting the hours. It looks like Negra is counting down the days too.

I am not surprised to see Negra contemplating the state of the world… I hope she finds it to be all good! Looking forward to Jamieween. Are you pulling our legs or do you really think the chimps sense something is happening? Maybe lots of excitement on your part I would do it!

Oh sweet Negra, she often looks so sad. But I know she’s got a good life now – but still pulls at my heart strings.

My thoughts exactly. I grieve for all of the chimpanzees (and, indeed, for all of our fragile biosphere’s primates), but I am especially grieved for Negra. Like Elie Wiesel and Nelson Mandela, I regard her as a witness and a reproach to human barbarity. Her eyes do not lie. I love her and her companions.
