Breakfast with Jody

November 17, 2016 by Anna

At the sanctuary, breakfast is probably the most exciting meal of the day. Like humans, the chimps have a sweet tooth, so that makes the primarily fruit based meal all the more enjoyable.

Today the chimps devoured pomegranates:

Apples:

And they finished their meal off with a couple bags of primate chow:

Lovely photos – as always. I love the way they really seem to be so deeply involved in their eating/their meals. We could take a lesson from them to be mindful of our own eating!

Do you ever get free apples from the growers in Ellensburg?

Hi Cheryl – We do occasionally get fruit from growers in our area, but we almost always have apples coming out of our ears already from our local supermarkets 🙂 We also have an orchard on the sanctuary property with apple, pear, cherry, and plum trees.

The problem for us is that we can’t store very much fruit, so we’re looking forward to the day when we have a big walk-in cooler!

Fantastic breakfast, I wish mine was that healthy.
