Hey, Margaret & Karen–
Go to the Chimp Sanctuary Supporters and check out my September 8 post. The small picture is Mack and the large picture is Karen. Mack is still alive at Save the Chimps and Karen is deceased.

Thank you, J.B.! What a treat to see some pictures of our boy! He is such a handsome chimp. I just adore him!

Burrito has quite a beard of white hair. Is this age related? Do Females grow wiskers too?

Burrito has such a sweet face! I love looking at pictures of him. Thanks for the info on his parents, Candy. I’m glad his dad is in sanctuary. Thanks JB.
Both males and females can have white/gray hair around the mouth and chin, but there is a lot of individual variation. It is most often not a sign of old age. However, as chimpanzees age, there is a tendency to develop gray hair on the body in general (you can often see this on the lower back). Chimps can also start to go bald, particularly on the top of the head above the brow ridge. Look at photos of Negra for an example 🙂

Dear Burrito. AND I just started a painting of him this afternoon. Perfect timing JB.

Fantastic pictures of Burrito, he’s looking great.
Candy (Tyler, TX) says
Burrito looks a lot like his mother, Karen, but I see some of his father, Mack, in him.
Margaret and Karen says
Candy, where can we see photos of Karen and Mack, Burrito’s parents?
Laura Bee says
I love his smile and gray whiskers/beard.
